I don't know the whys or wherefores, but surely beta/alpha testers shouldn't even be talking about the game publically in ANY form, seeing as it would be a confidentiality breach?

I have to agree with Rushes. Alpha/beta testers and even reviewers have an embargo to talk about the games they are testing/reviewing until the publishers say so. Anyway, I still haven't got any official word about the delay, so there's still hope...

I'm just pretty cheesed off with news of progress about once every six months, then the inevitable push-back six months later of another six-month delay. Please correct me if I'm wrong, as I haven't followed all the news, but I get the impression of being fed a carrot every so often just to keep me eager. There's no P.R. person, who should be keeping us informed. This is not how you conduct a business, by antagonising your prospective customers - in fact, it's very unprofessional, riding on the coat-tails of previous successes. There, I've said my piece and you could say I'm revolting - and you'd be rigght!

I don't understand what you meant:do you think the PR's have the time to post in every single forum to let people know about the progress of the game??? Normally a publisher just issues a press release, Ana and I normally got their emails 24 hours before they are public and as soon as we got news we post here. I emailed Mamba already and asked if this delay is true or not, I'm just waiting for an answer, I don't pretend that they are 24/7 at my (or anybody else) service! As I said, there is no official word about the delay, before cry wolf I would wait to hear from the source.

If they are good beta testers they learn to bite their tongues no matter what. Casual game beta testers are in no way in the same category as a beta tester for an adventure game. There is a huge difference between a select dozen people chosen to be a beta tester versus signing up to be one of a thousand to check out an hour of a game for your opinion. A good beta tester doesn't announce they are one while they are doing it either. Silence is golden. Ana

Ciao bombou, I was at the press presentation of the game in Oxford some time ago, and I was very disappointed by the cartoon-style cutscenes, I just didn't like it (you can read the editorial HEREThe rest of the graphics were really good, very detailed, and from the first three chapter that I saw, the story is very intriguing.

Hi, I just had to write that I agree with Myopia's assessment with what is going on with Gray Matter. It certainly seems as if Jane is riding on the coat-tails of previous successes and has forgotten whom she needs to have those successes. This game has been production since 2004-2005 and we are approaching 2011! This is an adventure game ...not a MMORPH or huge FPS on line game. We are talking over 6 years now with nothing more then tidbits thrown out to gamers for years and then when an official website is available not a word why release dates are being canceled. And yes Carla, I think if there "are" any PR people they owe you and any other adventure website "official" the respect of being kept informed to exactly where the game is at and if something like this happens, rumors of another setback, the immediate notification of such and WHY if it is true. Even more if it isn't. This adventure site and many others have shown Jane nothing but respect and sponsorship for her endeavors and deserve better. We the gamers maybe even more so as without our sponsorship, our purchases, there would be no fortune and fame. Myopia's quote "I get the impression I am being fed a carrot every so often just to keep me eager" rings true and is very unprofessional. This is a seasoned game writer and producer who should know better but alas seems to think because of her status she is above all that. Well, sometimes riding the coat-tails can have a disasterous effect like a big wind (full of new adventure writers and games) knocking you down onto the dirt road, maybe never to get up again. Patty

I was reading around that Gray Matter collector edition, that will be released in Germany at the end of October, will include both german and english version (and soundtrack, a whole deck of cards and a poster). My best guess is that Dtp will probably want to keep the copyright of the game for itself for some time, and after a certain time allow the local publishers (Mamba). In this way, whoever is waiting for Gray matter will buy the collector edition (the only one with english voiceover, costing around 54 Euros) because after all this time can't wait to play the game. This would explain the lack of official news, they are probably still deciding the market strategy. That's my feeling at the moment, I hope to be wrong though.

Does the woman not want to get paid surely to do this the game needs to be out and people buying so she makes her money. All sounds very confusing to me.

@ Carla According to the press release by dtp which introduced the Collector's edition of Gray Matter, both dtp versions of the game will be multi-lingual. quote from the press release "In beiden in Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz erhältlichen Editionen wird Gray Matter als besonderes Schmankerl sowohl in deutscher als auch in englischer Sprache lokalisiert enthalten sein." translation: As a special treat, both editions of Gray Matter for Germany, Austria and Switzerland will include German and English localisations.

All this speculation won't get us anywhere because we don't know the facts of the matter. But, as far as I'm concerned, the most important thing is that whenever we get this game I intend to enjoy it

Thank you so much Jack for the info well at least I know I won't need to spend 55 Euros to play Gray Matter! So basically this is sorted for us Europeans , we can buy from Amazon.de, but what about all the Americans? I don't think Amazon.de ships outside Europe... I just hope that when Gray Matter will be released, people will still be willing to buy it!

I have no doubt that when it finally appears people will still buy it as long as we haven't expired before hand.

Well, actually, no, I won't. Maybe once someone has reviewed it and I know what I'm getting into. What I've learned of the game so far really doesn't interest me. Yeah, I know, I'm odd.
Expired? Lol! I do hope the one who reviews it isn't pushing hard at 100, though.
