Hi maggie You need to install the game to another location on your C:/ harddrive, say C:/ My games or C:/ My documents. Sometimes, xp sp3 won't allow you to create a save game if a game is installed in C:/Program Files (sometimes alos called C:/Programs) I think this is for security reasons?

I think this is for security reasons? Yes. It's meant to help prevent viruses or other malware from making changes in important files on the computer.

You can run the game on Vista (and above), but it requires the NoCD patch. I have it installed under windows 7, and I have no issues at all.

Hi Maggie I'm using XP home and just installed Black Mirror to see if I could help. I just saved and it works for me. Here's what I did.
Click on the gears in the top right corner. Click on Save Game. Click on Empty slot. Type in the name you want. Then hit the Enter key on your keyboard.
When your finished click on the gears again and choose load game and see if that works. MIne is installed in the default for Black Mirror which is Program Files.

You should be able to install it in Vista as long as you right-click the Setup (install) file on the CD and "Run As" administrator. Don't forget to install to (My) Documents or at least to somewhere other than C:\Program Files. You won't be able to play the StarForce version of the game without using a NoCD because the version of StarForce used on the Black Mirror disc is blocked by Vista and Windows 7. StarForce does not install along with the game install -- it installs the first time you try to run the game. Black Mirror is buggy on Vista and Windows 7 though, and crashes. (See Plumgas's post #615937 from April 20 ***here***). So though you could get a download version without StarForce, it would still be buggy on Vista or Windows 7. If you want to try the NoCD, do a Google search for Black Mirror NoCD You download the NoCD, decompress it with either WinRAR or 7-zip or some other program that can unzip rar files, and then you replace a couple of the files in the StarForce folder with the NoCD files. You can scan the two files with an antivirus if you want to be cautious. It's a shame Black Mirror isn't easier to run on modern computers. But the problems it's having aren't limited to the copy "protection."

I believe Maggie57, and myself for that matter is still wanting to know where-exactly one can get this so-called (NoCD-patch)? I for one don't even know (if it's one-word that is) what exactly that term even means, save for maybe (no need for a CD in your CD/DVD-drive?!
I wouldn't wont to assume that everybody/most ppl coming to GB's website is an advanced user! i.e. someone who just auto-knows these terms! Just a thought. Happy-gaming all!
This is a win,win forum i.e. you help me, you help yourself. Now we're both happy right?!

I finally got Black Mirror 2 to run on my laptop Until you finish the first part where you are in the seaside town...when you are to go to Britain it crashed and after many tries i finally gave up and uninstalled. Ticked me off...enjoyed the first one so much and probably won't get to play the #2. pffuii It's a fairly new game, you might want to see if someone has a save game just past that point.
