I would like to play the game, but it won't let me past starforce. I have done all types of compatibilities, but it won't work. I need help, but don't always understand if what other people write applies to me. Thanks. Vicki

Are you using Windows 7, Vicki? I am and I have the same problem. I can't run the game at all but I did run it ages ago on XP. Starforce is a real pain, isn't it?

I hope one of the experts comes up with an answer for us both.

Gil.

The only way to play The Black Mirror under Windows 7 is to install a NoCD patch - Google "Black Mirror NoCD", you'll find them.

There are instructions included with the patch, but if you need further assistance you can always ask here.

Basically all you need to do is download and un-zip the patch. Once that's done, you just replace a couple of programs in the game directory and you're good to go.

You're talking to a computer illiterate, InlandAZ. <g>

Those instructions tell you exactly where to unzip the patch and which programs to replace?

Do you have to google a patch specifically for Win7 or will any old Black Mirror NoCD do?

Gil.

You can either unzip the patch any old place and copy the files to the game folder later, or you can unzip directly into the game folder. Where the game folder is depends on where you installed the game. It's best NOT to install the game to the default location (which is C:\Program Files) for Windows versions later than XP SP1.

You want the NoCD for the English version of the game.
