Save game is a misnomer for casual games.
What you have is a profile, created when you start the game (the welcome Player) screen where you can have several different players or games within one install. This profile data information is never put with the game installation files in the default Program Files and therefore not uninstalled when you uninstall the game. This separate profile data is saved in a default Data folder from the Publisher and is by default hidden within the owners Application data (or App Data) folder. All Publishers/developers have different formats and ways for how they store this profile data. But it is usually a .dat file extension.
Here's what I would do. (I am very computer savvy, but this should be OK for someone for hasn't poked around their operating system at will. But as always be prudent.)
Go to Control Panel->Appearance & Personalization->Folder Options->Show hidden files & folders and make sure it has a tick mark.
In windows 7 to find the now unhidden folder
Start->Computer->Windows 7 OS install drive (usually C:)->Users->(your name folder)->AppData-> and then look through the Roaming (or sometimes Local or LocalLow) folder for the developers folder, the game folder within, and the profile data info within that folder. Delete.
In Windows XP
Start->My Computer->Windows XP OS install drive (usually C:)->Documents and Settings->Administrator (or All Users)->Application Data-> and then look for the developers folder, the game folder within, and the profile data info within that folder. Delete.
Delete the folder and all profile data for the game will be gone.
I always manually clean out these files if I've completed and uninstalled the game. It has never affected my reinstalling and starting fresh as new player at a later date if I want to replay the game from scratch. They don't take up much space (unless you have played about a 100 games like me) but they are still useless if you have completed the game and no longer need your profile data.
Hope that helps.
