I have windows 7. New to me. A friend of mine helped download Rhem4. I didn't want to have it downloaded, but she clicked the wrong button. We got the game. But it is not in "Documents". I have the shortcut icon on my desktop screen and play the game by clicking the icon. I'd like to make sure a saved game goes into the game file, but I can't find the game file. All of my brick and mortar games go into the Documents file automatically. I do have the original download showing 2 files. One is the set-up and the other seems to be a second set-up file. I there anything I can do? Maybe order the Rhem4 disc, so I have something concrete? Any help would be great. I am 77 but I have someone who might be able to understand any replies you might send

By default, all downloads go to a file named Downloads. Go to Computer and look to the left for Downloads. Find your downloaded file there and double click to install it. Window 7 puts the installed games in Program Files(X86) by default. If you want them in your Documents file, you have to specify that change to Windows 7.

Post back if you still need some help!

Those are the only 2 files required to install the game -

RHEM4_Setup.exe (675 KB)
RHEM4_Setup-1.bin (733,960 KB)

Right click the shortcut on your desktop and select Properties, that should show you the actual location of the game.

Save games may or may not be stored in the same location, it depends on the game.

I hope I am not "stacking" I tried to edit my 1st post, but messed up. Sorry. But how do I find program files? I probably know but Windows 7 is new to me. Help, please
I found program files, but when I opened then it started to play the game. I just want to put the game in documents and be able to open it to see my saved files and/or put in a saved game from gameboomers. I did try copy and paste, but still when I clicked on open, the game started to play. How do I request the change to move the game from program files to documents file? Do I click on the bar containing the location and type in documents? Or do I just leave it alone and quit the game? I don't want to damage my new computer.

According to an old post by Mag, the save files for Rhem 4 should be located in:

C:\program files\RHEM4\Data\DPOT

or

C:\program files (x86)\RHEM4\Data\DPOT

if you're running the 64-bit version of Windows 7.

To get there:

1. Click Start (The round button in the bottom left of the screen with a Windows log on it) and then click "Computer".

2. Double-click the main hard drive (usually called "Local Disk (C:)", or possibly something else ending in (C:).)

3. Double-click "Program Files (x86)" if it's present, or else click "Program Files".

4. Double-click "RHEM4".

5. Double-click "Data"

6. Double-click "DPOT"

At that point you should be able to see your save files.

Make sure you copy them to another location on the hard drive as a backup (like a folder in My Documents) before you make any changes.

I would suggest that you NOT put your game in Documents - the installation was into Program Files(X86). If you move it, the game icon won't know where to go to find it. But you can copy your SAVE files to Documents as a backup as Demsothenes says. Again, don't MOVE them there or the game may not be able to find them.

Don't move the game itself... you can find everything you need in the path that Demosthenes gave you in Program Files(X86).
