Prominence Trailer Releases Mere Hours After Unprecedented Solar Eruption Studio Claims No Connection; Conspiracy Theorists Unconvinced a mere coincidence? Long Island, New York, Dec. 7, 2010 – The trailer for Prominence, the upcoming science-fiction adventure game from Digital Media Workshop, Inc., was released today just hours after a massive solar prominence sent a filament of magnetic plasma over 400,000 miles long hurling into space. The studio denied having any pre-existing knowledge of the eruption, but agreed that solar activity was also at an all-time high in their studios as they released the official trailer, which offers the first glimpses into the world of the Letarri and their endangered mission to colonize a remote planet. “This trailer really captures the emotion and essence of Prominence,” said Mike Morrison, owner of Digital Media Workshop, Inc. “Our target from the beginning of this project has been to deliver a highly immersive, story-driven experience.”
When pressed for comment about the recent activity of the sun in our own solar system, Mr. Morrison added, “Solar activity can have a profound effect on electronics, radio signals, and other electromagnetically sensitive signals and equipment. We should respect the universe around us. It’s a lot bigger than we are, and far less polite.”
The trailer can be viewed on the DigitalMedia Workshop YouTube Channel, new screenshots can be seen in our Gallery and don't forget to visit the Official Website.

It makes me think of Mission Critical, one of my most favorite games. I cannot wait to play this game! Never played MC but ditto for me - but first I'll have to get it, either by purchase or trading.

It may be a bit early in the development of the game but can a Gameboomers guru ask about how they plan on distributing the game, download only or disk? Thanks so much.

Hi RNL, at the moment the game is planned via digital delivery, the developers are trying though to find a publisher to release the game via retailers too.

RNL, To expand upon what Carla said, being able to provide the game as both a digital download and a boxed version has been something we've been talking about for a long time now. We have been contacted by several publishers, but we have not signed agreements for any territories. Since the start of the development process, our plan has been to bring the game to 90% completion and then shop it around to find good partners to help with the publishing and distribution of Prominence. We're aware that some gamers prefer boxes over downloads, and that's a big part of making plans with publishers. So, the short answer is "we would like to distribute it both digitally and as a box, but nothing's official just yet." Kevin P.S. If you want a boxed version, we'd love to hear about it. If you want a digital download, we want to hear about that too. Drop us a line to feedback at prominencegame.com.

Thank you Carla and Kevin for letting me, and in fact all of us, know your plans on distrbuting the game. I hope a way can be found to provide it both ways when you are ready. The method of distribution has been discussed here at times I believe with 'boomers' sharing their preferences for either way. I am in the boxed version crowd over a download if a boxed version is available. I also like the feel of turning pages in a book or a game manual over seeing it on a screen. Perhaps as I am staring at a screen full of text or code all day anyway and my eyes could use a change of pace
My personal preference is to have a boxed version. I see on your site a link at the bottom to email you so I will reply to that as well.
Thank you Gameboomers for providing us with this kind of information about new adventure game developers and the wonderful work they are doing for our enjoyment and for the follow up answers to our questions!
