Hello there

There is no sound
I am having trouble getting sterlings gift to work on windows 7 We are getting a
error saying

Windows media player the file you are attempting to play has a extension.226 that does not
match file format. I have never come across this error in any other game This is a first

How do i fix this please?

There is a patch for the game; unfortunately it doesn't address the sound issue under Vista and above.

Here's the content of VistaReadme.txt from the support site -


Sterling's Gift has not been optimized for use with Windows Vista.

To Install Sterling's Gift on a computer using the Windows Vista
operating system you must right click on the setup file and select
"Run as Administrator". This will allow you to install the game.

Unfortunately Windows Vista also uses Mediaplayer 6 objects which is
not yet supported by the game engine, thus Sterling's Gift playing
on Windows Vista will not have any sound.

A patch to this problem will be posted on the Sterling's Gift support page when it
is available. Please send an email to Sterling's Gift Support if you
would like to be informed when this patch is available.
