Long shot - Check your inventory and see if it is there.
Try to get the camera at The Eye later in the game and then see if the battery appears in the basket. Keep us posted.

I have the camera in my inventory, but no battery. I'm at the music studio now, and I'm going back to play from some previous locations before the Eye - lucky I saved a few times along the way

But now I'm going to make potato-leek soup for supper, and I'll try again later

Are you sure you don't have the battery in inventory? I had the same problem, couldn't find it. Actually, I picked up the battery the first time in the cottage, but did not know what it was. I thought it was a business card.

When I went back and there was no battery in the basket, I reviewed everything in my inventory. That's when I found the business card to actually be the battery that worked the camera!
