Paris, France – January 13th 2010 – DotEmu.com, the retro-gaming digital distribution service is excited to announce the comeback of « The Last Express » for Windows.

First released in 1997, “The Last Express” – is a game directed and written by Jordan Mechner, creator of both the Prince of Persia and Karateka franchises, two of the first games to combine arcade action with realistic animation and cinematic storytelling. Both titles became #1 bestsellers and are now considered all-time classics.

Following many years of unavailability, “The Last Express” is finally back in a Collectors Edition, fully compatible with modern PCs including tons of bonuses such as the Original Soundtrack, a walkthrough and an original making-of video interview. The Collector Edition is available in five languages: English, French, German, Spanish and Italian.

“As our 100th release on DotEmu.com, we are very proud to re-release such a masterpiece. Despite the passage of time, the magic of the game is definitely still there and everyone should give it a try” – Xavier Liard & Romain Tisserand – DotEmu Co-Founders

Last Express is an immersive adventure game that put the player on board the Orient Express in July 1914, crossing Europe on the eve of World War I. It pushed the boundaries of interactive narrative in ways that no other game has done before or since. Artistically and technically, it was an immensely ambitious undertaking.

The Last Express Collector Edition is now available for purchase on DotEmu.com for 5.99$ as a digital download, DRM Free.

I still remember so many details about the train & checking out my compartment, the bathroom.. with the locked door to the adjacent compartment... and sneaking & snooping around when other passengers were elsewhere... and the danger and intrigue! When a game is so good, you keep many of its images in mind.... I sure did... and I still have the original big box version (which probably is not playable on my PC). I'm really tempted to see what the update looks like... how the game plays; the graphics; plus the bonuses.

But it's just a download. I wonder if it's possible to make a hardcopy of my download so I'd have it on a disk that I could store in the old box version?

Yes. DotEMU works the same way GOG does.
Their games are DRM-free and you can store your downloaded game on disc.

I had traded my Last Express by Interplay a few years ago and regretted it ever since. I kept the old one by Broderbund and I obtained another boxed Interplay. Now this will be a nice addition. Do you think they will ever put the game on disc?

Jenny100~ Thank you... that's an appealing incentive (for someone who's new to game downloading) to give it a try.

I've held back, because of restrictions, differing from site to site... like having to play only while online; like the game having an expiration date on your computer; and (unlike GOG & DotEMU), disallowing hard-copying. These things kept me from trying out downloading. Also, the lengthy download times (unless it can run in the background). So, I figured I'd wait until all the wrinkles got 'ironed out'.

Well... maybe now's the time... maybe I'll 'take the plunge' into the Game DL world... finally.
Long as it's easy.grin
