I started playing AG in 2004. There was this awesome TV show called MYST. It was a game show with the regular news, reviews section, etc. But what made it special was the second part show. During the second part the host would play an AG and would let viewers call and control the main character, solve puzzles and find clues. There were prizes too - PC games, gaming mouses, etc. Shortly after I started watching the show The Black Mirror came out and I bought it.

It was during the winter vacation. I started playing The Black Mirror and I couldn't stop doing so FOR DAYS. I've been playing AG ever since.

What I love most about AG is the fact that most of them have good, well developed characters, interesting story and many, many puzzles.

To date my most preferred genre is the adventure one.

I do occasionally play shooters and RPG's but AG are my guilty pleasure.

For me it's relaxing exploration and puzzle solving, sort of peaceful escapism. I don't appreciate the clock ticking or the sense that someone is out to get me - it's too stressful - and I play games to get away from the stress of work and the real world.

My 'World' no longer has me bound by walls or handicaps.
I can free roam whenever and wherever I want,
transporting myself into a virtual novel
ofttimes able to mold/form this virtual world at will.

I've been trying to do just that for quite some time. I managed to hook a few up, but most of them were either uninterested in playing an AG or were not gamers at all.

It's their loss XD

My main reason to play an adventure game is to problem solve in a calm and beautifully detailed setting, with a story line that keeps me interested.
I play adventure games when I want to wander, escape the rush of the day and ponder the solving of a puzzle.
I play other games too, like HOGs, Sudoku, or Mahjong or Bejeweled, but those tend to be more mindless for me like a time killer instead of really engaging me with a story line that brings me back for more, and then wishing that it wouldn't end.
Myst pulled me into adventure games, as I just couldn't pull myself away from it. And now, to play an adventure game, I like to have large chunks of time to go to those special places that the story line takes me.

I do things in adventure gaming I'd never do in real life, opened someone's diary, their luggage, their BEDROOM DOOR or even their medicine cabinet. These are things I would not want done to do to me.
But how can you solve the mystery if you don't break taboos?
I also love to press buttons and go places I've never heard of (or have heard of but never gone before) To open that door and see the totally unexpected just sitting there all ripe and juicy, waiting to be explored!

I agree with you BubbaJake. You never know where you might end up in an adventure game.
