I have played this game before so I know what has to happen in Mitre Square in order to make the "time line" work. ( I am missing the clock) I know that Watson has to take the lantern and walk the square in order to place Sherlock at the point of the murder. I can't get him to do that. I know I have to mention the Two policemen in order to establish the time of the murder. The problem is (I think) is during the "Reenactment of Mitre Square Murder" I have followed the walkthrough to this point and I think I might have at least most of it correct, but just can't get Watson to walk with the lantern to see Sherlock with the body. I know that Sherlock has to instruct Watson to walk with the lantern in order for Watson to "take the role" Sherlock does not ask Watson to do this.
The walkthrough states to "best to do this at third person view. This does not happen. Have I missed a trigger? What am I not doing? Can you help? I have, per the walkthrough, already spoken to Solomonovitch, examined the body and checked all three exits os the square. Including St James exit. I have restarted the game in hopes that I might get it right this time. But I may need help here. Thanks.

Hi Classy,

Has the game switched you over to playing as Watson now, or are you still Holmes?

If you're still Holmes then there are still things that need to be done in the area, or the timeline itself isn't completed correctly up to the point where the game switches to Watson's viewpoint.

So re-check the inspection of the body and that everything has been covered there. Then double check the timeline and that it is being done in order, that the icons you have placed so far on the timeline are outlined in green -- that way you know they are correct. Holmes should verbally confirm after each icon is placed.

As for checking the three available exits from the square -- do make sure that you walked far enough forward down each exit path so that Holmes confirms aloud.

I am still Sherlock Holmes. I re-checked the time line and all the placements are bordered in green. I re checked the body several times. (When I place the police constables on the current timeline they do not turn green and there is no clock.) So I know you are giving me good advice, but I still am not successful. I'm pretty certain the timeline beginning with Dutfield is correct. This is about
the 7th time I have replayed Mitre square. I'll go back now and try again until I hear from you. I'm so close to quitting. But good games are so hard to get anymore, and I don't understand downloads. I tried to get Dark Fall Lost Souls, but I messed up with the download and lost it. The company said they would refund my money, but they never did. So, no more downloads. How is Interact? I talked with a live person, who said they have games on disc and would send them. Are they ok? I sure hope so. I will try them next time. Thanks for you help. i guess this Sherlock game is a wash. But I have played it all the way through before. What the Heck am I not doing?

When you place the icons on the timeline, do them in the order that Holmes tells you to so that he comments after each placement. If you're not hearing Holmes comment, then something's wrong.

I'd also suggest re-checking the three exits from Mitre Square so that Holmes comments on each one.

Interact is an excellent online store with great customer service -- I'd definitely recommend them. All of their games are on disk. smile

luck and keep us posted.

Thanks for your help. I've quit for now. Maybe I'll try again later. Also, per your comment, I ordered "Blue Madonna" from Interact. Thanks

Perhaps go back to the game in a day or two, you may likely see things afresh and get past your stuck point. smile

Enjoy Blue Madonna!
