I click on some web pages and I am redirected to page that have nothing to do with what I typed in search. Will someone please tell how to fix this?

Do you have an example? Adware can do this, but without knowing what the link was supposed to take you to, it's hard to say.

Try starting your browser in Safe Mode and see if it behaves the same.

You mean ***this link?***
I don't see any car ad.
If you're talking about a different gamespot link, copy/paste it into your message.

You may want to run Adware Free and see if you've got an issue with adware. Malwarebytes wouldn't hurt either.

Toolbars, and add-ins can also contain redirects - starting the browser in safe mode disables them. Does it behave the same way in safe mode?

Edit -

By all means, as Jenny says - post an exact link.

Yes, Jenny100, that is where I was trying to go. I have run Malwarebytes and no infections. AVG found 1, taken care of. Seems to be better. InlandAZ how do I check my toolbars and add-ins. Started computer in safe-mode and did not encounter the problem. What is a good free ad ware removal program? I appreciate your help. Found this in Programs "Advanced Performance Platform Revenstreaming" Does anyone recongnize this? Redirect appears to be gone now(knock on wood) but I would still appreciate information on ad ware removal.

Hello kazzmo,
I use Superantispyware. It seems to find all those ad wares. It is free. Notice I said SUPER antispyware not the regular Antispyware.

You don't want to start your PC in safe-mode, just your browser. Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools - you'll find a shortcut to start IE in safe mode there.

I'm assuming you're using IE -

To view those currently active, click Tools, Manage Add-Ons (from your browser).

One of te best I've seen for Adware is Adware Free, although it been quite some time since I've had to run it.

Spybot is also very good and Free. I use it along with AdAware as well as ones mentioned above.

InlandAZ, I am running IE without any add-ons. I have never started IE in safe mode. When I click on the IE icon, I get a message telling me that IE is running without add-ons. Browser seems to be working fine now, but who knows what the future will bring.
Geo and lazydazy, thank you for your suggestions. I will check them out.
