I am wondering how important it is to have the DVD case/cover/box when purchasing a used game. I'd like your take on this. Thanks, Terri

I guess the question is, how important is it to you Terri? I'd prefer to get the case, but it's not a deal killer to me, if the price is right and I trust the seller. joe

I like having the case too but it wouldn't be a deal breaker if it was a game I really wanted.
It's nice to be important but it is much more important to be nice.

If you are going to on sell or trade you might have a more limited clientelle but as you can see plenty of people aren't concerned. If you are going to keep it, probably makes no difference, unless you like cases.
Quantity has a quality all of its own

I think it depends on why the person is buying .... If it's purely to "play" the game and not add it to a "collection" then often just the disk itself is enough

The cover is important to me. I keep my games on a shelf, just like I do the books I read. If it is a good game or book it's there as a reminder. I can pick it up and look, the cover reminds me of the great time I had playing the game, or reading the book . Also looking at the cover may intice me to play or read again. If the book or game wasn't a good one it is in the cupboard, not on display. So the cover is important to me I wouldn't want a good book without a cover . I treasure my books and my games .

InlandAZ !!!! I keep all the boxes too - for any game I'm adding to my collection. I get real pleasure from seeing them all sitting smartly up there on my shelves. Especially the big boxes of all my old games EDIT : This is weird !! Minutes ago, I was reading this thread in Mixed Bag and then must have started dreaming or something 'cause I woke up and found myself in Adventure Discussions

I keep all my games in their boxes or DVD covers. I really do not want a game if it is not retail packaging. I do, however, have some old games like Daggerfall, Arena, Battlespire etc., that are in jewel cases. Many of the old games are too expensive in their retail boxes. I have two walls in my computer room with ceiling to floor shelves and all my games are kept there like books in neat order.

I miss my old beautiful retail boxes so it's important to me to have my games in the DVD cases. I am looking at the beautiful art work on Lost Horizon and thinking that although the game is fantastic I don't know if I would have purchased the game if I had not first seen a preview of the story yet to unfold based on the art work on the DVD case.

I not only keep my boxes, I always prefer the cardboard ones to the dvd cases. (come to pappa, nice cardboard box! ) Here in Holland boxed games are rare (dvd cases here)nowadays, but the old ones had the pretty big boxes. I mostly buy or trade abroad for the new ones. robert
