I'm playing on a PC that gives me a full screen when exploring but doesn't give me a proper screen for the tools and items for closeups s. It's enlarged and the cursor has to reach ABOVE the tools to examine items or get a tool so need some hints

A) I went to the attic and Michael kept saying that there was a lot of useless stuff. TRUE?

B) I explored the grounds and of course EVERYTHING is locked. Should I look in the house for keys?

C) I looked in the exhibit hall. A Mask is missing from the display case. Normal?

D) The basement is locked. Will I need to get in there or is this a red herring?

E) Found the
Click to reveal..
safe behind the portrait and am waiting for the combo

When I played earlier and didn't find this, I left the room and Mike said that he felt as if he was missing something. Went back and found the "thing".

If I leave a room and don't find everything, will he always say that. Cos if he does THAT will be a huge help. (yup hints are turned on)

Must say even with a wonky PC, this game is creepy and fun smile

A. False.
B. Best to check everything inside the house first. The keys can be found in the house.
A key can also be found inside the house for a building outside.
Then some buildings have keys that can be used for the house and other buildings.
C. There is a mask that is important there but you have to find it first.
D. Oh yes - go there.
E. After you see the safe, the combination will be told to you.

Can't remember if the hint is always like that.
Have fun!

AWWWww geeeee THANKS MAGS eek

Ok Still October 12 but now it's getting late.
Explored more of the house and grounds but used the magnifying glass in the toolbox to examine things more closely

Found the news article in attic and read about the maid having proof via a picture that the police now have. Also in attic found a music box and played it. Found pictures in another chest close to the window

Also found the letter written in Italian.

Rest of toolbox contains: house/basement/car keys, pen/pencil, envelope, shovel, matches, lantern, stethescope, cleaning rag, knife

I'm a bit worried cos I can't find candles, (the realtor Jerry, I think, suggested this) haven't found oil for the lantern AND it's getting dark (3 pm)

Electrician showed up but I missed him (I looked in the mailbox)

Found the garage/shed, mausoleum, chapel, and the greenhouse/conservatory. All locked.

The exhibit hall has a large display case of tusks. I found out that
Click to reveal..
it's on wheels but it's stuck

Checked the fireplaces and am not allowed to light the one loaded with wood

found a "little stove" in one of the rooms but I'm not allowed to use it yet.

Found a room with a locked door that has a key jammed in it. Tried the pencil thing but pencil's too big.

Could use a hint for the oil.

BTW Spoke to his assistant too

If you've had a look around for candles and oil without success, call Jerry back -- he'll be able to help. luck

Well I called him. Nice guy. Offered to drive me into town since the car battery died. Something about leaving the lights on... stupid me smile

Stuck in a house that's getting darker by the hour eek It's 6 pm

I have a letter to mail to Barbara (need to translate), no food apparently, no oil, no candles

Did manage to find a newspaper underneath a stairwell. Tried to light a fire but apparently not cold enough.

Tried to call everyone back. busy tone or "I've bothered Barbara enough"

I can't call Ned, Bess or George... lol

Should I explore more. Apparently I'm "not tired" cos it's too early to "go to bed"

AND NO WAY AM I GOING TO THE BASEMENT (I don't have to right now, do I?) eek

HAAAAAALPPPP!

If you spoke to Jerry he should have mentioned a date relating to the previous inhabitants.

Maybe those old newspapers in the attic will have some more information? smile

I remember him talking a bit about the previous owners but a date?
I'll check the journal and see if it's in there ...

And check the papers again.

The attic is starting to give me the goosebumps scared

Tried to call again and busy

Have you read *both* diaries? There's one in the study desk, and the other is on the table in the living room. Be sure to have examined both.

Here's what the walkthrough says:

Click on the newspaper, click on the words below the screen (to look for worthwhile news on May, 1963) and read the 25th May, 1963 newspaper. Learn about the accusation of Eva Mariani, the maid that James murdered Catherine Blackwood.
Go down the stairs. It's time to go to bed.

After that, go to your room and click on the bed.

Hope that does the trick.

Ok after running around in circles for another 1 1/2 hours I cried "uncle" and looked at the WT (thanks Mags hearts )

YUP... DUH MOMENT!!!!! blush

Click to reveal..
The boring tool: At first, I thought it was a full sized shovel. You know how in the inventory the items appear smaller than the actual size...
When I clicked on it again, I read that it was a "boring tool" ie. a "Not So Exciting Shovel".
slapforehead

The letter in Italian: As I stated earlier, I'm having an issue with the cursor being above the items when I'm in closeup.
Click to reveal..
I couldn't get the letter in the mailbox the first time because I forgot to address it. slapforehead The second time I tried, the cursor missed placing the letter in the box. smashpc
I thought that I had to take it into town.

I've had the nightmare and am happy to say that I'll be exploring the house AGAIN because of the rain!

thanks
And in the words of some famous guy whose name I can't spell
I'LL BE BAAAAACK grin

HEY! I GOT INTO THE

with the rope and found the birth certificate!

Now a bit of a problem
It's 1 pm
The exhibit hall!
There is something behind the display case. I can't move the case. The wheels are jammed up. smirk

I oiled them and tried to get the case to move. It won't budge
I tried the knife in case something got stuck but he's afraid to cut himself
I tried to hammer the wheels
I use the boring tool to remove any gunk that might be there
Haven't tried cleaning the wheels with the rag
(BTW I put the

paint can cover on the little stove in case I need it and I have oil in my lamp

Am freaking out cos I can hear drums eek

Like I stated earlier, my cursor is a bit wonky on the closeups so I might've missed something. frown

When I enter the room Michael states that he needs to investigate further.

Should I explore the house for a special tool?
And yes Mags, I'ma FREAKING OUT!

The cabinet should move if you use the metal bar to drag it to one side.
