The panning works really smooth, not fast at all. Really a great game. Richard

About the panning, they seem to have added a program called Zpeed to slow it down.

They sure did a good job of it. I've had the game for a number of years but couldn't get it to play on my XP. Thanks goodness for GOG. Richard

Well, this may not happen for anyone else, but when I went into Options to slow the panning further it sped up and no amount of fiddling with the speed dial helped. I didn't save the game so if the panning is the way it was at first when I open it again, you can bet I won't be messing around in Options.

The options button for panning speed seems to make no difference at all for me. Playing on a quad core, Win 7 64-bit. Everything else seems to work. Wonder if its the mouse speed ? Dunn Tawkin I stand corrected. I started the game today, and the panning speed has slowed down alot. I see the option panning speed is all the way to fast. Go figure!

Becky, I reopened the game and I'm now wandering around but the panning, while it seems to jerk from point to point, isn't bad. So if you want to see what I was talking about (assuming it happens to you) just open the game and play a minute, then go to options and try to slow the game down. Enjoy the result and don't save. Close the game and when you reopen things should be back to 'normal'. No guarantees though. Gil.

Never met a grue so I can't tell you. Well, except for the one I work for. So, maybe not. Go ahead. If you end up permanently whizzing around in circles, we can always do a Restore and fix you. Gil.

Good point, I could always reinstall. Whizzing, here I come! EDIT: Well, it would appear that whatever program they've used to slow down the panning only works if you don't mess with the panning speed in the Preferences menu at all (i.e., if you leave the panning at the default speed). So the default is the little arrow pointing to 100%, but if you change the arrow, the game puts you back into letting your CPU (or whatever) arrange the panning speed, and you go whizzing about. Whizzing about has its own pleasures, I suppose, but it is basically impossible to play the game at that speed. At least, it is for me. So when you play the game, just stick with the default panning speed and don't change the little arrow in the Preferences menu. Do not touch the arrow or even think about touching the arrow. Who says not to touch it? I DO! Is everything now perfectly clear?

I have the same problem with panning and tried changing the game panning setting didn't work. GOG also had suggestons (F keys) still too fast. Any other suggeston? Can't believe I missed this one really funny.

Great Game Traveler !!! Works really well on my XP machine - no glitches or bumps in the road yet. I had passed this over years ago. I had just finished Zork Nemesis and all the previous Zorks and was just Zorked out. Just forgot about it since. Well I just got it and I am very glad I did ! I had no issues installing it nor did I need to do any tweaking in the Options. It plays really well for me.
It's not the years honey, it's the mileage!

After recovering from my whiz drunk, I went back into Options and put the meter's arrow back on 100%. Then I Quit. When I opened the game again this morning, it was back at the default panning speed. So I didn't have to uninstall/reinstall. Or start over.

Since I'd called a company with one of those computer-generated waiting lines this morning (Press 1 if...Press 2 if...), I nearly fell out of my chair laughing at the responses I got from the direct line to the commissioner!
