Hello, I;ve just finished playing Alice the Madness returns. I often avoid these sort of games as i'm not a big shooter and not that interested in masses of weapons / spells / missiles / armour. However I found this just about right for me on easy level. The story was interesting and the graphics great. The experience has made me rethink my attitude towards action games (i'm usually a big adventurer ). With this in mind can anyone recommend any other 'action' games that have an interesting story, not too difficult enemies, pretty graphics etc and fairly linear like Alice? Thanks Melissa

I have to recommend Prey. It's one of the best shooters I've played with some of the coolest weapons ever. And it's seriously creepy sci-fi!

Hello,
Well I took your advice and I played Prey - You're right - I loved it. Not too many weapons, fairly linear, good story and not too hard! :-)
Now I'm on the search for something else... anymore suggestions?
Thanks, Melissa

I also loved the F.E.A.R. games, both 1 and 2.

I also played the first F.E.A.R. I liked it also. Slightly harder than Prey but worth a play.

I am finally getting this game to run. I just got an update on my graphics card. There must have been a lot of complaints about the game not running on the GE Force 8600 GT graphics card. I got the notice for the update a few days ago and downloaded the update and now the game is running just fine.
The game is really awesome. I am playing it on easy and it is still really a hard game IMO. I had to alter a file to get godmode. And it is still hard to kill these critters. But the game is still fun and great settings and graphics. The game has a lot more platform elements than the original Alice, but some really clever game play.

So, what update did you get for the graphics card? Oh I have no clue. I just got a message that an update was available so I downloaded it. And now I am able to play the game with no problem. OK I just looked it up and driver # 8.17.12.8026 was installed

EDIT: Just looked it up and here is what they did, bless their little hearts!

I wonder why the designers decided to not let you save where you want like the first Alice. I am so sick of getting to the end of a level and having to start at the beginning because I missed a jump or what ever. I am so stuck on a level because I keep missing a jump. I am starting to hate the game since it keeps sending me back to do over what I have done a million times. It just isn't fair IMO. Well, I doubt I will be finishing the game. After at least 100 tries I obviously am not going to get it. For now on I will not buy a game where I can't save the game where and when I want.

JB, when that happens - don't give up the game. Play the offending part everyday for 20 min or so and walla(spelling?) one of these days you get lucky. Or the game feels sorry for you and lets you get by. Maybe you emerge a better player too. The 1st time with Killzone 2 was like that for me. Just start playing another game too. And forte!

Thats what I have been doing. I almost made the last jump yesterday but missed. But I did get closer. Playing RCT3 in the meantime.

Saving problem solved. I found a link to a site that has a download to that will let you play almost anywhere you want to in Alice. If you get stuck you can go on to the next save point. It is really neat. Go to the link and read the first post and dowmload the file. http://forums.techarena.in/video-games/1416250.htmHope you enjoy it. Alan
