Just completed LHOD 4 Another GREAT game by Billy

GRAPHICS....A
ATMOSPHERE & CREEPINESS....A
VOICES....A
SOUNDS...A+
PUZZELS....B
STORY....A

The only downside for me was I thought the puzzels were a bit too easy. Tha other 3 LHOD were a little more challenging & I like the 1st person perspective when it comes to Horror Adventure Games. I believe it puts you into teh heart of the game a little better than 3rd person. Still have to give Billy another A. When it comes to Horror Adventures....

BILLY ROCKS!!

Scotty,

If the puzzles are easier, that is a plus for me! I always have trouble with them. I played the demo and really liked it. I ordered the game and it is on my list to play next. Do you know if, when I load the game, it will start where the demo left off or will I have to start from the beginning? Just curious because if we play BFG demos and then buy the game it starts where our demo ended.

I too played the demo but it starts you up from the beginning as if you never played the demo. BUT....I also changed OS from Vista to Windows 7 in the period of time between playing the demo & starting the game so that may have had something to do with why it started from the beginning?? Not sure.

I really had fun with LHOD4 as I'm sure you will too. I'm a MYST/RHEM "junky" so i love tough puzzels & it's not that LHOD4 puzzels were simple, some did require some thought, I'm just compairing it to the other 3 LHOD games & I thought this was the easiest. Still a GREAT game & a lot of fun. That's the cool thing about Billy's games. They're Horror Adventure but they're fun too & that's a wonderfull combination.

Have fun GG

Thanks for the mini-review Scotty... Glad you enjoyed the game.

Yeah... sometimes it's hard to balance the difficulty for all adventure-gaming experience levels. With some of the inital posts on the board (and some of the beta testers too) I thought it might be too hard at first... so I quickly made an ingame HINT book... (started as patch but now included with game)

But perhaps the hint book makes it too easy?

It's also interesting to hear from some of the BFG players - I noticed that some are not used to difficult adventure-style puzzles (which are easy for long time veteran adventure players) and more used to casual-style puzzles.

I guess I tried to balance it a little bit more towards the casual player too.

Thanks

Hi Billy

I imagine its got to be hard to create a game that fits into everyones wheelhouse though I'd say you're 4 for 4 at this point. I LOVE all of your games and I always get exceited when news breaks that a new one is coming!!

You're a BRILLIANT man my friend & you make all Adventure Gamers days a little happier knowing we have your games to come home to & help us forget about our daily stress if only for a lil while.

Thank You My Friend

OH YEA...1 more thing. LOL

The use of materials sent with your games to create puzzels is again...BRILLIANT!! Who else does that!! I personally never have played a game that used actual materials sent with the game. Heck, I still have spiders crawling around my PC table:)

"Heck, I still have spiders crawling around my PC table:)"

And I have them crawling over a cat's skull I picked up in the woods on a walk with my dog. Lol! Yeah, I know, I'm weird. But maybe it makes me appreciate billy's games even more.

Gil.

Billy,

I have played adventure games for years (started with Laura Bow: The Dagger of Amon Ra) but apparently my mind doesn't work like a lot of gamers because I am really terrible with most puzzles. Not sure what my mind is good at but that is a different story... I love having "skip" buttons but most games (not casual games) don't have them. Anyway, I loved the demo and will look forward to playing this.

Will the game start where my demo ended or will I need to start at the beginning? Doesn't matter, just curious. I also appreciate your fast shipping. I ordered the game and it came in just a few days. Thank you!

I grew up with the INFOCOM text adventure games.

They always included some items with the game. I always thought that was cool - I was sort of going down that path too with my games... but now times are changing and "seems" like most customers want lower priced download vs retail boxed games - so it may not really be cost effective to add that stuff anymore if I want to compete with the trend so not sure if my next game will have it or not. I guess I need to do more marketing to see if if the majority of the people appreciate those extras or not.

@gatsbygirl... No, sorry you will have to start the full game again after playing demo.

I like the LHOD games, and I do like having the box thumbsup.
I do not download games. I love having the box of each game I play to remember that game.
Also it is very nice to find the extra things in the box that Billy places in there catrub.
It is exciting, you receive the game box and you are so anxious to open the box up and play the game.
But Knowing it is a game from Billy, you take your time and seek out the little treasures that are included in the box with the game happydance.
I haven't ordered number 4 yet but I will be doing so this week.
Then I look forward to it arriving in my mail, getting my hands on the box and opening it yay.

Billy !! wave

For as long as it's feasible for you to do so, because it is so appreciated, please continue to release your wonderful games on a disk in a box and with "surprise" content yes

I love that tradition and only go the download route as a very last resort rolleyes

Cheers.
