Hi, I know this place by heart after being through it countless times and always getting shot Would anyone be so kind as to send me a rescue package? I'm playing the GoG version, so not sure if applying the save would be the same procedure as in MaG's excellent explanation. Thank you for even any attempt to put me out of my misery!

myopia, Here's a site for Tex Games.Click on saved games, then Overseer and see a list. Hopefully you'll find what you need and can use them.

MaG, I found the site and downloaded the save, but now find it doesn't recognise any programme that'll open it. I have Adobe, Java, Flash - you name it, but none suitable apparently. Hey ho, guess I'll have to keep making forays into the (now incredibly boring and repetitious) art and craft of perfecting the stealing of the briefcase in Big Surf Lodge. So I'm an amateur..I can improve with a good bullet-proof vest. Dear MaG, not to denigrate your kind help, it's always appreciated and I know you do all that's possible to help, thank you, with gratitude.

Hi myopia,
Don't try to open the save file -- as you've found, your computer doesn't recognise the format.
You'll first need to find your save folder where all your own saves are for this game. If they are numbered sequentially then you'll need to renumber the save file that you downloaded from the website so that it will appear as the last numbered file in your folder. You can do that without opening it.
Then simply copy & paste or drag & drop the renumbered file into your save game folder.
Exit all folders, start up the game as usual, and load the new save from the in-game load screen.

Oh dear, Rushes,
I followed your instructions, but the save game's still sitting in the save file unopened and not recognised.
I renumbered it to follow sequentially and then tried the site's suggestion, but was reluctant to delete my original character and saves for a new ID that may not work.
Clicking on 'load' still only brings up previous saves...hope I've explained this well enough!
Thanks for trying to help, but I think I'm dooomed to haunt Big Surf Lodge, seen only as a ghost repeating the same tasks each day, lol!

Is the file you downloaded a "zip" file? And if it is, did you extract the save file inside it?
(Some downloaded saves are zipped to compress the size of them, if they are very large. Placing an unzipped file inside a game save folder therefore won't work.)
If it's a zipped file and you're not sure what to do with it, let us know.

Hi MaG, no, never appears in the list of loads once dragged and dropped there. I rename it as per the others with the next consecutive number (rename then ie 41 after 40). Have tried 42 instead, but still no go. Seems like I'm a hopeless case and should now be quietly packed off to Glitches, never to be heard of again

Did you scroll all the way to the end of the saves and see if it is there.

Hi Cathy1 yes, each time I did something different, I scrolled to check and it was always in the saved game folder but never appeared in the load game list.

You mean before 1, the first save? Yes, in fact scrolled through all the saves, but the little blighter not there.
Just a thought: I've added a location description to all previous saves; would the lack of one on this particular save make a hoot of difference?

Hi myopia Just a thought here, did you try and make a folder on your desktop, and put your original saves in it, and then try and put the save you downloaded and unzipped into the games saved game folder and try to load and play it ? I hope this dosen't confuse you.

Hi myopia, This is what I had to do. Make a folder on desktop, down load save, unzip and put in folder so I could find it. Then went to the game made sure I had a save or two at that spot. Then took out the save moved it to a different folder on the desk top, then changed the name of the unzipped saved you got (probably a nilo) to the saved you took out of your game and then put that save in your game in it's place. That way the last save should be in line with your saves. Hope this works and you understand, what I said. Having the save you took out of your game, in a folder makes sure you go go back. Charllotte

How kind everyone is, thanks Cathy1 and Charllotte, I'll have a go at that...I've also found a walkthrough on Youtube for Big Surf, so with all this good aid I should come out of there walking and with the briefcase. Shouldn't I?? Will let you know

Thanks for your good wishes Cathy, it did. Never a very confident tech person, I tried all the biz with the saved game files and ended up losing the saved game folder, duh (it's there somewhere, as the list of loads is still in the game). Anyway, I watched the Youtube clip, checked my inventory and found that Slade kept shooting me because his wallet had been half-inched. Don't blame him, really....but I got my own back by escaping from Big Surf with his shirt and trousers...they're in my inventory at Tex's office at present Thanks bunches, everyone!
