As I indicated in posts below I got a real good pc at Ecollege a couple weeks ago so this question is only a curiosity.
Last week I got an e-mail from staples.
HP P7-T computer for $299 Well I had to look at. Staples said little about it.
On the HP site they clearly stated it had a whopping 250 watt power supply (sarcasm)
They offer you a video card three of the choices are ATI Radeon hd6450
Nvdia 530gt and 520gt
Have you looked to find power supply requirement for video cards? I want to tell you manufacturers treat that like top secret info.
Anyway gigabyte clearly states their version of the hd6450 requires a 400 watt power supply while the 530/520 requires a 300 watt supply.
HP does not tell you or charge you for openly upping the power supply for those cards.
What are they doing selling you a card for an inadequate power supply?
Bumping up the supply while tacking the price onto the card. I think they should tell you if they do that.
Are they selling you a stripped down card matching it to the power supply.
Of course they don't tell you the brand of the card.
Just curious wondering if anybody knows. I don't care enough to hassle HP about it but it raises questions about what they are doing.
The questions raised also serves as a warning to look closely at what they are trying to sell you.
