Help please,
I have the new Ubisoft game NCIS, and it is blocked by AVG. I have been trying to get it cleared But I get an error saying that it won't let it start or play. A Virus! I guess I should not have bought from Ubisoft as they have a rep? for things like that.
Is this something I should just trash and make sure not to buy from them again?

It's not Ubisoft, its AVG – it’s well known for false positives.

I don’t use AVG, but I do know there is a way to exclude programs from being scanned.

Hi Jenny 100,

Thanks a lot. It took some doing and a lot of fussing but I finally got the game Past AVG. My subscription will run out in the spring and I have been checking into other virus programs. I saw Vipre, the other day advertized (for three computers, which I have) for a lifetime. Do you know anything about It? A hundred dollars for three computers for a lifetime, or even for one computer would be good.

I haven't used Vipre. You can check some of the user reviews at CNet ***here***.

Whichever antivirus you choose, make sure you run the AVG removal tool after removing AVG through Control Panel. The Control Panel uninstall doesn't get everything, and can cause conflicts with a new antivirus. You can find the AVG removal tool here

I have Vipre and IMO it's definitely worth the money.

By the way, Vipre does have a firewall, probably added since that review was written.

Hi Jenny 100 and InlandAZ you are both STARS.
I have just bought NCIS and it worked no problem on my laptop and then I installed it on my Vista, just couldnt get the game code sign up til I went to GBs and of course the answer, as always was there, sorted out AVG and it plays great.

I have been using Viper for a few months now and have only had one problem. The service people were very good and quick about helping me fix it. I would recommend it.
