They don't have a phone number and I have no idea what to buy or options to take. I really want to order from them, but need a list of what I should have. I want to spend around 1K. Any assistance would be appreciated. yes I only plan to use it for gaming. Mostly RPGs, and a little web browsing. No video or photography.
Thank you! thanks

Andrea,

You can go to ecollege's website and look at everything they offer, see what you think you'd like and even add it all up to find out how much it would cost. I did that and then came back here and got opinions on what I'd chosen since I'm not the brightest crayon in the box when it comes to building a PC. I love the one I had them put together.

LOL! I don't know what half of the things are for or if I should even have them. It's like they're in a foreign language. Thanks!

Let's start with this combination. I used the Custom Builder option and started out with a very, very good Sandy Bridge processor. Then I started adding and subtracting things. If you want to go with a smaller hard drive, you could go with a 500 GB and save a few bucks to or spend it to upgrade something else. Let's say, you want Blue Ray - you could upgrade to a Blue Ray player. Or you could upgrade the video card to a GTX 560 Ti instead of the GTX 560. Or, play with the cases if you want a great sexy looking case! This is just somewhere to start in your price range with lots of options you can change. Especially since you play RPGs, get the best processor and video card you can afford for sure. And make sure that power supply is upgraded to the best you can afford too. And make sure the case has great airflow and fans. Now, go have fun there!

Looks great to me. This one comes up to $1,123, right? You can play around with some different cases if you want some blue lights, but they will add them to your Antec 300 if you want. It has a 120 mm rear fan and a 140 mm top fan, so that should be enough for cooling. This motherboard has on-board sound, so you don't strictly need to have an extra sound card.

If you want more USB ports on the motherboard (back of the computer), you will need to look at other boards.

You could take the RAM back to 4 GB with an eye to adding more in the future if you need it and spend the money for a better motherboard if you wanted.

Choices, choices!

See what some of the others here think.

Does not look bad at all ! I would definitely recommend more fans for the case of your choice , and a switch to the HT Omega Stryker sound card .

I would look at some other cases too. Like I said that one has the 120 mm rear fan and a 140 mm top fan. I like fans in the front moving air over the HDDs too.

But, email Dave at eCollege and he will help you out with some decisions. They are really good about responding to email.

It's been ordered and now I can't wait! So excited! My old Dell XPS bit the dust. I use my laptop alot, but when I'm working at my desk, it's not as convenient as my desktop. I have the Dell that belongs to the company I work for sitting on the desk taking up space, and my old desktop and monitor in the built in compartment. So space is at a minimum on the top of my desk.
What do you all do with your old non-working machines? How do I wipe the memory if nothing works anymore?
Thanks for your help!

Congratulations ! In regards to wiping your hard drive on your Dell , I'm not exactly sure . Since it is a Dell , Dell may have a tool to perform this action . Normally , when you install Windows XP , There is an option to format the hard drive during initial install . Otherwise , I have located this particular tool , which may help . You can get the tool here : Format Tool
