Hmmm... I was just visiting GameRankings to find reviews of a game. By chance, I noticed that GameRankings has delisted both GameBoomers and JustAdventure, two of the biggest adventure game sites, from its "active" index, citing "site did not maintain activity" which is obviously wrong.

I can understand why JA was delisted because of the owner changeover, but I can't understand why GB was delisted. What?

This makes me mad!!! There are not that many active adventure game sites these days, and I hate to see that our genre has once again been pushed out by mainstream game media press.

A mod should write to GameRankings to complain... >:

Maybe it's because Gameboomers doesn't review Nintendo DS games or console "adventures" (which are usually survival horrors or action-adventures).

None of which I'd even play. It's a shame that these games are what people consider "adventures" these days. rolleyes

I read their rules for new sites that want to be included. The site has to review 15 games per month to be blessed by GameRankings.

Someone has a real down on adventure games if that's why Gameboomers was dumped. There aren't 15 new adventure games coming out every month...maybe not every year if you don't count Indies. And they darned well know that Gameboomers reviews only adventure games. What a crock.

The upside is that most adventure gamers know better than to depend on Gamespot.

GameBoomers was once in GameRankings (now not), so it should have been grandfathered into the listing.

Also, it is unfair and ridiculous to have a minimum of 15 reviews per month. There are not even that many adventure game releases in total per month (including the consoles), so that criteria is inherently biased against GameBoomers.

Now I'm mad.

Let's just ignore them. Gamespot never helped us anyway.

To be fair, though it kills me, Gameboomers is in the listings. It's just that, when you click on it, the link on the page you come to isn't active. It's there, just not active.

I've written to GameRankings in the past about this, and they haven't written back. I'm not even sure if the email address they list for contact/communication is even live. frown

I am, unfortunately, something of a wimp. If people don't write back to me (and their site implies that we should be posting 15 game reviews per month), I act like a chump and give up!

I counted -- GameBoomers posted 40 reviews in 2011. Not exactly inactivity, is it?

Not exactly. They're just being a word you won't let me use.

I can't think of any adventure gamer that doesn't depend on the walkthroughs on this site. (Talking about you, MaG!) For that alone, Gameboomers deserves respectful attention from those clods gentlemen.

Both GameRankings and Metacritic require a specific number of reviews per month - regardless of genre. If the reviewing site cannot maintain that number per month, they are removed from the rankings.

The site I write for (any genre) was removed for the same reasons. No amount of rational discourse (or pleading/begging) made any difference. Their site, their rules.

How come Adventure Gamers is listed? I don't think that site publishes that many reviews per month (perhaps because it covers multiple platforms)? Then again, Just Adventure covers games on multiple platforms too.

Maybe Adventure Gamers is being given a reprieve because they just did mini-reviews on a hundred games. <g>

If people use a search engine to find an Adventure game review, I'm pretty sure they will see mention of Gameboomers as a place to visit yes

People who go directly to Gamespot for reviews, however, are probably not looking for Adventure game reviews in the first place !! woozy

I'm sorry to see this but I agree with Mad.

I came to this site because I googled an adventure game walkthrough. I've stayed because of all you friendly people.
