Thanks, Marian!
Hi GrandmaPam, all you need do is save the file attachment directly into your save folder -- which for this ND game is a sub-folder inside My Documents.
Then start up the game as usual, go to the load screen and scroll all the way back to the beginning of your saves to find the one that Marian sent you, as it will be an older dated save.

Did you place the file into the Nancy Drew folder itself, which is a sub-folder inside My Docs? Double check to locate that, and see that's where all your other saves are for the game.

The second time, you don't need to do anything with the carved wooden picture. You just need to click on the secret door panel itself to re-open it. Double check that you're clicking on the right door. If you're standing directly in front of the wooden bird, for example, turn to your left and the secret passage door is directly in front of you on the wall straight ahead. There are a few cupboards/doors in the room so maybe a bit disorientating.

Hi Pam, as long as you don't delete your existing save games, then they'll still be there for you next time around. When uninstalling, you'll usually be prompted as to whether you want to keep your saves or not.
Hi CC, the save's on the way.
