Discworld Noir is a game I really enjoyed playing because of the atmosphere, the graphics, the humor and the voice acting. I found Lewton to have a very distinctive voice that contributed to the noir feel and dry humor of the game, but I was not familiar with the actor behind it. Recently I saw the movie who was the voice of Lewton back in 1999. Anyway, I was surprised to connect this particular game character with a known actor. (I'm not sure that was worth a spoiler alert but maybe some would rather not know who voice actors are)?

This is probably more common than I realized. I know of two other famous actors (Michael Dorn, Tim Curry in GK Sins of the Fathers) whose voices have been incorporated into adventure games. Has anyone else been surprised to find a famous actor behind the voice of a game character?

I had a weird experience recently as I was watching the credits for Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time. A character named Dr. Nefarious is featured in five of the ten games of the series (all of which I've played). I was stunned as the credits rolled by to realize that I know the person who does his voice. I felt so stupid, because he was one of the friends I had Christmas dinner with and I wish I had known it then, so I could have gone all nerdgasm on him.

Lol! It's a long time to next Christmas, ray. Maybe you could invite him to a Cinco de Mayo dinner and have your nerdgasm then.

The YouTube videos of that game look like fun. I never did hear your friend say anything but he sure has a mean laugh!

Wow, lots of famous voice actors and some games I'll have to look into. I was doing some searching for other famous game voices and was surprised by one more cast & crew fact: the same person (Sharon Mann) voiced both Kate Walker in the Syberia games and Mina in Return to Mysterious Island (which I'm playing now). Maybe my audio memory is faulty, but I can't imagine that can be true...I recall Kate Walker's voice as being very different from Mina's.

I will also say this: None of my favorite voice performances in games have EVER been from famous actors.

The Trip was actually a 6 part TV series in the UK. The film was heavily edited version of that series (You probably know this already:-)).

No, I didn't realize that it was first a TV series...I really enjoyed the movie.

One more famous actor: Erick Avari (The Mummy, Stargate, etc.) was the Grand Inquisitor in Zork Grand Inquisitor.

I suppose it's not exactly accurate to include Avari and others who appeared in FMV cutscenes or FMV games (Tex Murphy) as voice talent, since they are physically acting as well, but why split hairs?
