Hi, It looks like Ive lost the saved game for the crystal door. Could you, please, send me another saved game. Thank you. I've looked in my docs and its seems to be there, but somehow its not in my game. Thank you again. Pam

Alright, I received the Crystal Door save and downloaded it into the proper folder, but it is not being recognized by the game.

CC, did you scroll all the way back to the beginning of your saves in the in-game load screen? They will be in date order, and this is an old dated save.

To double check -- you placed the file into the Water's Edge sub-folder inside My Documents?

Yes, it's in the Shadow at Water's Edge folder of My Documents. The save doesn't even show up in the saved games menu.

I've noticed that the file seems to be in a different format than the other saves as well.

By different format you mean that the file extension is different? In what way? Double-double-check that you're placing it in the Water's Edge folder, and not the Ransom of the Seven Ships folder that you were playing very recently. It's so easily done. smile

I'll re-send the save, just in case it became corrupted en route to you.

I just double checked and it's where it's supposed to be. The file doesn't show up at all when i go to load the game.

My computer just doesn't seem to recognize it, which is weird considering the Ransom of the Seven Ships save worked just fine.

I honestly have no idea why it's not working. confused

Just a thought - are you scrolling the load page list?

This is a fairly new game for NDs; so it should be in the list. The old ND games show only a limited number in the list; so the old saves have to be placed in a folder and keep only the saved games you want on the main folder. But I don't believe that is the case here.

Tried scrolling, no luck. I only have 3 saves and the rest of the save slots are empty. The new save, despite being in the proper folder, isn't among them.

Just wondered is this a download? That or different publisher might make a difference.

Hi, I was able to play the game once. When I tryed to play it a second time I couldn't get past that darn crystal door. You sent me a second saved game, but neither seem to work. Any thoughts. I appreciate all your help. Thanks. Pam

Alright, I got past the door lock on my own. But thanks any way for all your help.

Hopefully, the save file not working was just a isolated incident.

Once again, Thanks.

Hi Pam, if the second save (which MaG sent to you) is not working, similar to the save which I sent to CC for the same puzzle, then that's really strange. We've sent the same save out literally dozens of times to other members without any issues. I don't have any explanation, other than what MaG suggests just above. But you say you already successfully used a save the last time you played. woozy I can only suggest double checking that you've placed the file in the correct game folder, and that the extension has not been changed in any way -- does it match the other file extensions?

CC, that's great. bravo So glad that you made it.

Im not sure what you mean by file extension. My Save in my game has a 17 lock door 2 and Shadow. My Load has all 2nd chances, 1st lock door, sent by Marian, and Shadow. I will check my docs to see how many 2nd chances I have there and then my game to see how many I have there. Can I check anything else? Im sure Ive done something wrong. Thank for any advise you can give me.
Pam

The file extension is the wording/numbering after the full-stop on the file name, in this case "HiSawSave".

The file you need to load for this puzzle is "17 balcony lock door done", which it sounds as though you have?

Try the procedure over again -- save the file attachment that was e-mailed to you directly into the Water's Edge folder in My Documents along with all your other saves for the game.

Looks like I had a blackout 2nd chance so my Lockdoor save wouldn;t work. Anyway, I figured it out. Thank you If I decide to play it again I might ask for the portrait wire puzzle, that's also a hard one. Ive done it but it take a LongTime. Thank for being there with all your help. Pam

I sent you another saved game file - see if that goes through okay.
I wondered if your anti virus is affecting the attachments.
