So, I've found a couple of games via Big Fish that I find intriguing and have even played samples of. However, I can't seem to decide.
Of the following, how would you rate these in order of playing based on gameplay, challenge, and length of the game itself?

Drawn series (all 3)
Awakening series (all 3)
Ghost Towns: The Cats of Ulthar

Also the other two that are in each series...are the other two worth playing or are they duds?

If there are others that you think I would like based on these please let me know. I'm new to IHOGs but I love them already...hearts

I hated Drawn, can't stand fairies and never played the Cats of Ulthar, so I'll totally ignore your request and say you should try Enigmatis: the Ghosts of Maple Creek.

Always helpful, grin

Hi Dreamer,
I would rate the Drawn series first, although it is not a hidden object game. I loved the first two games of the series, and felt the third one was not quite up to the same standard.

Then I would rate as second, the Awakening series as fun and enjoyable IHOGs. I enjoyed all three games.

I demoed The Cats of Ulthar, but didn't like it enough to purchase.

I think there is a list of everyone's favorites here that could be a great resource for you. I envy your exploration and discovery.

I think all 3 Drawn games are worth playing, as are the Awakening games. I haven't played Cats of Ulthar yet. wave

I too really liked Enigmatis: The Ghosts of Maple Creek. Among my favorite IHOGs in the last 6 months is Surface: Mystery of Another World. smile

Ah, is Surface a IHOG or just HO? I've always played point&clicks and am slowly getting into the adventure/mystery type IHOG because it's not solely HO.

If you don't mind me asking, what was it about the third Drawn and the Cats one that you didn't fancy?
Sorry for your envy, I really am quite new to this! thumbsup

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the third Drawn and don't regret buying it. There was just more of a "story" going on in the first two games. The third one didn't have as rich a narrative but lots of fun (and unique) puzzles.

I don't remember why I crossed it (Cats) off my list to purchase. It just didn't engage me.
Often if a game has too many hidden object scenes one after another...I lose interest.

You might look at Azada 2: Ancient Magic as a unique style of game as well.

Yeah, the story for the cats has me wondering as I love cats/mystery but I agree, I kept going back and forth and so many HO's in the demo version I played.

I will look into it, thanks!

Grim Tales SEries and Tiger Eye - Part I: Curse of the Riddle Box are great puzzle casual games also.

Drawn, especially the first two are the best I think if you are going from your list.

Cats of Culthar is a great game, but it is an easier, kind of relaxing game instead of one you really need to think.

Hi, Dreamer1990!

I would recommend the "Awakening" series because I've played all 3 and enjoyed them very much. I would also recommend the "Nightfall Mysteries", "Dark Parables" and "Puppet Show" series. That should just about fill up a couple of punch cards and then you'll get 2 free games lol !

Have fun!

Susan

I'd like to add Shiver: Vanishing Hitchhiker to the list of recommendations; I thought it was a very good game. wave

I really like to get my moneys worth so I would like to know if I get all three Awakening games or all three (or is it really two?) games which is longer?

Does anyone know quite how long each one is or what the approx total time for each would be?
I caved in and am trying the free trial of game club since it is able to be cancelled, so everything is cheaper.

The Drawn games are shorter, but harder. If you don't use a walkthrough the puzzles will take you quite awhile. It all depends on how you play them.

Hmm, it's not so much walkthroughs as that darned skip button. It can be so tempting at times, haha.
Well, I know that when I would play Nancy Drew oftentimes I would get frustrated and give up for a while as those weren't "fun" puzzles for me.

On the one hand, Drawn's use of going into pictures and other creative ways to solve issues is really neat.
But The Awakening series really has a wonderful fantasy feel to it and while the first demo felt "girly" the second one had a slightly more eerie vibe to it, in my opinion.

I know that there aren't many games out there that are long like say Dreamfall but I would like something that is at least 5+ hours.

P.S. sorry that I cause you to merge me. It seems like every time I think I have it in the right spot it's notoops

Hi, Dreamer1990!

If you're looking for a terrific game that is quite long, give "Otherworld: Spring of Shadows" a try. I purchased the Collector's Edition and it took me over 7 hours to play the main game, and another 2+ hours to play the bonus chapter. The Standard Edition is out now if you don't want to spend the extra money.

Mystery Legends: Phantom of the Opera, Hound of the Baskervilles, and Dracula: Love Kills were quite long.

"Urban Legends: The Maze" was also a really good game. And a bit of a different story from many of the others. Sure to satisfy the adventure gamer.

Check out The Catch of the Week on the Big Fish homepage. This week it is Hound of the Baskervilles. Quite a bargain, but only for a few more hours.

There isn't much of a price difference but I've never bought a CE before.

I did download the demo and it showed that there were wallpapers, soundtrack and a bonus chapter among other things.
A.) Are the wallpapers downloadable for desktop?
B.) Can the soundtrack be listened to on itunes or something?
C.)Is the bonus chapter that needed or is the epilogue of the original story sufficient?
^^^This is the big deciding factor for me.
Thanks laugh

*This is for Otherworld: Spring of Shadows as it got moved to here*
