Been at this for TWO DAYS,and it's turned from a game to a CHORE. I MAY have left a boulder blocking the wrong way when I was in the tunnels earlier. I need to divert the fire (steam?) from the tunnels to melt the black buddha statue...and I CAN'T. Walkthroughs I think missed a step in what stone to turn, so now I'm screwed! I really dont want to go back and replay from MUCH earlier in the game.According to Soren ANderson's WT, I am at # 67:having for the 2nd time entered the steam tunnels.I get stuck because after rolling the gate to the right in the 3 eyes chamber,my path is blocked to the single horn (dunce cap) chamber.I must have blocked it (or not turned the gate) the first tiem I wasin the tunnels.....WAAAAAY earlier in the game. HOw the heck can I unblock the dunce cap chamber to get entrance to it? thanks

Have you checked the picture of the boulders in Crash's walkthrough here.

Thanks guys. I'm afraid the zipped map is a tad hard to understand,but I tried to make sense of it. And I actually used the map within the walkthrough that you pointed out...but I canNOT get to the dunce-cap area from EITHER grate entrance...it's blocked off. I really don't want to go back to so far earlier in the game. I'm sure I'm missing something or am going the wrong way at some point underground....this steam tunnel thing is purely diabolical!

Ugh and double ugh. I am absolutely,positively stuck. It seems as if both the map and one of the WTs are at odds with how the tunnels should have the boulders turned to block passages off so that the fire/steam is redirected. When I push one a certain way,it is at odds apparently with how it SHOULD go. And then I'm stuck not being able to get past a different entrance to continue underground. I've gone down through BOTH grates and tried again and again to manipulate the door entrances. I simply canNOT do this right.
Does anyone have a saved game (with the GOG version) where the steam tunnels are properly blocked off,so the statue is melted,and I can get TO the melted statue and continue this game? If not,I'm afraid I'm going to have to shelve the game for good and not finish it.

I found another walkthrough. Maybe this section from it will help ??

Use your steam tunnel map liberally (by dragging it onto the main window) - Arthur will keep it updated with your current location and the position of all the doors.

Go to the first intersection (tree symbol), continue to the two horns area and roll the stone to the left. Go to the three eyes area and roll the stone to the opposite side. Continue to the unicorn horn (hat) area, the east steam area, the shell area, the middle steam area, and to the two rings area. Roll the stone from right to left. Arthur should detect a definite change in temperature and say, 'You did it, Gage!'

The idea was to divert two steam areas to the skeleton mural. Return there and get the Black sphere from the melted Butter Buddha. Exit to the three eyes area and roll the stone to the east on the map. Go through the two horns area to the two diamonds. Pull the lever and go to the two rings area and throw that lever. Go through the Cross area to the west steam area. Go slightly left and through the tunnel, pull the lever to the grating and exit towards the yaks.

THis is exactly from one of the WTs I followed. I don't remember which one exactly from this, but when I get to advance to ONE of the doors I am blocked from going any further and I cannot for the life of my figure out how to get TO the other side to unblock the door. I've tried going throufh the tunnels via BOTH grates and each time I;'m blocked by one door or anotehr from advancing. I cant recall being so frustrated by a game! My wife says I should just shelve it and give up...but you know us adventure gamers..w.e MUST figure it out :-)

I do have a save game for immediately after the steam tunnels - but it's not for the GOG version.

I could zip it and send it if you want to try it ??

I made notes that say :-

Can only use this save when game is installed to XP
Don’t use until you have all the orbs from the other 5 shrines.

DO you think this would work? I have a feeling it wouldn't since the game is not the same. I don't want to corrupt my game in any way. No gamers EVER answers ANY posts on the GOG forums...I've asked for a saved game there but don't expect a single response.
I think I'm going to have to go far back in the game to where the steam tunnel dorrs are at their default position,and repeat the steps again and get back to my current area of the game. So much for a week's worth of playing in what little spare time I have!
I truly appreciate your help in this...very much. THis is why GBoomers is the BEST site by FAR. Everyone helps everybody else :-)
