Hi everyboomie!
Well, I purchased a PS3, and wondered if anyone who has that console has any good suggestions for games. I may not be in the right place for this, so feel free to move my post if ness. think
I had a PS2, very old, and wondered if the PS3 would play the games for it or not. I put the old one to good use and never had a problem with it.
Any comments are much appreciated!

I believe the older PS3's were backwards compatible with the PS2 games, but the new ones are not.

Download Journey from the PSN store. It's marvelous.

I enjoyed Uncharted 1 and 2, Prince of Persia 2008 and Burnout Paradise. I loved Demon's Souls and Dark Souls. Another is Sports Champions that requires the Move wand. Disc Golf is great fun.

It is just a magical journey. The artwork is beautiful. I recommend playing online so that you can meet others playing the game. When you meet up with someone in the desert, you chirp and they answer and then you can continue your voyage together if you like. The locales you visit vary a lot, from the desert to a dark cave and eventually to a mountaintop. A couple places are a bit scary. You sometimes need to manipulate objects to advance to another area. The music is wonderful too.

Resistance: Fall of Man games were games I would like to play if I had a PS3.

Also, most games coming out today also is out for the PS3, e.g. Skyrim and Mass Effect 3 etc.

As for older games, I think you either can find a emulutor on the PSN Store or sometimes, there are old games for sale on the PSN store.

Edit:

As for adventure games, Heavy Rain and L.A. Noire seems a must buy for PS3...

Andrea, son said that his PS3 plays PS2 and PS1 games. At the time he bought his, he paid a little extra to have that capability. I don't know if that is still an option. puppy

luv2travel, If you like action games you did the right decision, enjoy your PS3!

The PS store has lots of free demos, this would be a good place to start.

If you like challenging games Killzone 2, my favorite, is very good. All the Resistance, all Crysis, both Dead Space and many many more.

Different kind of games less shooting could be Deus Ex Human Revolution and Metal Solid Gear 4 can be played almost all as stealth or shooters and have more of a story.

Horror: both Dead Space and all the FEAR

In the Action - Adventure type: all the Uncharted

War: almost all you have in PC, Battlefield Series and Call of Duty series

Thanks for all the help and great suggestions! I generally play RPGs, Horror, and adventure games. I really liked Fear and like games with more of a story line.
Thanks L4L, and say 'Hi' to son for me!
