I am looking for a tablet, maybe an Ipad...not sure. I want it for fooling around with when on couch in living room as hubby says I spend too much time in evening on my pc at opposite end of house. He does same on his laptop or phone but in living room. So in an attempt to be more sociable, lol, I am looking and perusing. I have seen an ASUS with a 10" screen that looks interesting but want to see what you guys think. I would like to surf the net, read books and play some games on it. I would also purchase a "brush" and stylus to do some artsy things also. Any input is appreciated. Thank you. EDIT: Never mind and thank you anyway. I wasn't very patient and already purchased one.

One of the things to consider is what operating system will be on the tablet. If you want familiar Windows apps and programs, then a Windows tablet will be what you want. It will be Windows 8 though which I love, but not everyone does. Some tablets have Android on them and you would be limited to the Android app universe - which is not a bad thing as there are tons of them. Of course, the iPad would also be a new operating system. I do notice that Big Fish is starting to get more games for the iPad though.
EDIT: Oops! Just saw your edit! What did you get?

I got an: ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF201-B1-GR Tablet - NVIDIA Tegra 3 Processor, 1GB DDR2, 32GB Flash, 10.1" Multi-Touch, Android 3.2 Honeycomb, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Gray I also got a nice case, stylus and a 32gigabyte card. I have Android on my phone and like that a lot so I won't be completely strange to this. I am also familiar with a lot of the apps so I think it will be good for me. I got it refurbished at Tiger Direct and saved a lot right there. Thanks to probably you, I learned about them years ago and have always been happy with them. It also said it has a Corningware surface and they are supposed to be quite durable. I can't wait!! Thanks for asking btw! EDIT: It says Corning Gorilla Glass...ooops..

If I were to get an Android tablet, it would definitely be the Asus Transformer. That one gets very good reviews at Newegg.
Almost everyone who has a Xoom loves them, Richard. I wish they had done better initially. I really wanted one at the time, but I think they just priced too high at first.

All reviews at tiger were fives too. After seeing Richard got a Motorola I had a moment....our phones are Motorola Electrify. We pretty much stick to that brand as it has gotten the best reception in our rural area. However, my tablet is WiFi only so it should all be good. We are actually getting a new router today that is much better than the current one and it seems to do a good job. I am soo excited. How will I ever wait one more week?? Shipping said two to six days and now it is going to be eight or nine, lol! That must be an impatient dance Taz is doing!!

I know the feeling well!
I don't think they are making the Xoom any more. I remember that in November 2012, they stopped issuing Android updates for it.

Hah! A mere $900 or $1,000 gets you a Surface Pro!

InlandAZ,
Just came across this post from February and I was given a Galaxy Note 10.1 for Christmas, too. I have been playing a lot of games on it. I am doing the Big Fish streaming games and they are adding new games all the time. I also check out the Amazon Free App of the Day and sometimes they have an adventure game. I have bought games from Amazon and Google play. I really like some of the G5 games and I played the Broken Sword games on my tablet. Many of them do have a HO component, so if you don't like that, you will probably not like the choices. I am guessing that because of their size and limitations, it is more difficult to design straight adventure games that don't have any HO scenes.
I am playing Moonlight Grove now and there are some HO but not very many and the game is very well done. I have loved playing games on my tablet.
In case you haven't already bought the tablet and are curious about what might be available, here are some games for you to check out to see what you think:
The Lost City The Secret of Grisly Manor The Haunt The Haunt 2 Twisted Lands: Shadow Town Twisted Lands: Insomniac Tesla's Electric Mist Alice Trapped In Wonderland Darkmoor Manor Mystery of The Crimson Manor
I realize that I am responding to an old thread but in case you haven't looked into games for the Note 10.1, I wanted to give you a heads up. I love mine!
