Hi all you "DarkSider". I just wanted to share with you the fun I'm having revisiting a very old game! I have the original Tomb Raider Gold and I have started replaying on my XP computer. The graphics are terrible but I am managing to get thru using Stella's walk thru. Loving it every step of the way!!

Every now and then I fire up the old TR games, though my reflexes aren't what they used to be. St. Francis's Folly was too much for me last time I tried it. Still great games, though.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I am L4L! It's great to be able to go back to the original game!! Hagatha I find with more experience the older games get easier to master and so much more fun for me to play!

Jenny100 I checked it out. That is a huge improvement. I hope I can figure out how to implement it. Thanks. I agree with you about the Anniversary TR too. It was difficult for me especially the fighting using those unique techniques.

This peaked my interest as I haven't played the original TR games in many years. I checked out GOG because installing from my old disks and trying to tweak to my new system (I now have Windows 8) was more than I wanted to handle. To my pleasant surprise, GOG has TR 1, 2, and 3 for $9.99. I took a while to get it running. In fact, I had to go to their tech support for an answer as to how to make that happen. However I learned from them that there is a TR1 safe mode and that together with running as administrator allowed me to play the game. The really good news is the TR1 that you download from GOG is the enhanced version so the graphics are like playing with the Glidos etc.
You laugh because I'm different I laugh because you're all the same
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

The GOG version of TR1 from TR1+2+3 worked without tweaking on my Windows 8.1 computer. However getting it to work with glidos http://glidos.net/install.htmland using the enhanced audio and texture packs and the restored FMV movies from the Playstation version was another matter. The enhanced audio and textures were actually not difficult to configure using the instructions on the Glidos website. But I had to install a codec pack ( ***Windows Essentials Codec Pack***) to get the FMV movies to work. You get the texture packs from http://www.tombraiderxtra.com/Some are only for certain levels, so if you want to use different packs for different levels, you exit the game and choose the texture pack you want to use from the dropdown in the Glidos configuration. However in the end I got a much much better looking TR1 than just the straight-from-GOG version. Glidos has instructions for the GOG version, the Steam version, and the CD version of TR1.
