About 9 days ago I put 4 colors of eyebrows from the same set of brows into my Downloads folder. I then left the site and went to check the brows in the Creat a Sim in the game...... I double clicked on the Sims2 game launcher and got this message......"Sims2 Launcher has stopped working"....I couldn't get into the game...The game played just fine the night before...Thinking it was the 4 last downloads, I went into the Downloads folder and deleated them....Double clicked the launcher again and got the same Launcher message....Deleated another suspect from the Downloads folder .....No luck, the game launcher still would not work. ...So, I deleated the Whole Downloads folder with all my custom content in it....Well, the game launcher still would not launch the game and I was still getting the message. With out the Downloads folder in the Sims2 folder the game should have been about like out of the box....So I decided to uninstall, run ccleaner and reinstall it. I have 2 disk versions of the game and tried to install both.....When trying to install the DvD drive spins up and the light is flashing and the little circle startIs going around (like its starting the install process) the stops...I looked in help at theSimsresourse and Mod the sims. I'm not the only one who has ever had the problem of not being able to reinstall the game. The only help was people saying it probably had bits of the game still on the computer.....I did a search and it found 2 Sims2 entries which I deleated and ran ccleaner again.....I still can not reinstall the game.... Some have that ccleaner doesn't always get rid of everything. I don't think I'm up to messing in the computers registry..As always, thank you. Regi...... I wanted to add that there are stii some sims2 folders in the recycle bin.

Did you click on Restore to see if there is a restore point available? Unless you change your settings, this is done automatically.
Also have you looked in your msconfig Startup to see if the game is still listed there?

Never mind. I reread that and hit the part about "disks" and realized you couldn't "redownload" it to reinstall.
Mea culpa, Re.

If you have tried to reinstall, then looking in the msconfig Starup programs file won't help. But you can look there just in case. Click on Start, type msconfig in the search space and click on the search result. Click on the Startup tab and see if the game is listed in the list of startup programs.
If you tried to reinstall, I would give Revo Uninstaller a try again. Some bits might have gotten on the computer again. Don't necessarily look for Sims in the list... maybe check for the game developer or distributor name??
EDIT: I just checked something. I looked for games which I know I have uninstalled in that "Games" listing. Yes, they are there. So, I did a search for the games and found that all the results were files containing saved games.
