And unfortunately the worst offenders - politicians - are completely exempt. Or maybe that's the Do Not Call list...

THat's just for the Do not call list. This can block anything.
I put constant callers in my phone as the contact name SPAM. That way I do not pick up.

I got another call from the far east from a guy who couldn't pronounce my name. I get this one about once a month, always from the same sounding guy. Was so noisy in the background I could hardly hear him, but he again, called himself, Henry, Uhhuh, and this time I told him he was stupid to think that I would fall for this scam and to never never call me again. He will probably call today. There was a news article about a guy who is now 'playing' with these callers. He tries to keep them on the line as long as possible to tie up their phone. So far his record is 20 minutes, but he is going for 30. Very fun if you have lots of free time. He just keeps saying he has to go get his wallet, or someone is at the door, or other delaying tactics, then asks tons of questions like he's really interested. Sounds like something I might do. OH and he gives the guys fake credit card info. He just makes up numbers that are nowhere near correct, and when they say it's declined, he goes, ooops, sorry lemme get my glasses and read you the numbers again. Again he gives fake info. Oh the joy of making the other guys mad. But then they have loads of time to waste anyway.

Last month I got "that" call from someone purporting to be from Microsoft, who told me that "behind the scenes and so unbeknown to me" Microsoft was receiving reports from my computer of problems that needed fixing". So I said .... "Well that's very strange because I don't own a computer". Upon which the caller immediately disconnected !!

Ah Mad, I did that to this guy who keeps calling, and guess what? He keeeeeps calling anyway. They are so stupid. I really think they just don't care and just maybe the 100th time they call, I might 'bite'. Sigh.
So today it was someone from AARP Chase. He had a long prepared 'opening' so I didn't interrupt, but the punch line was, that they are doing a 'survey' about how we like the credit card. Ummmm. Like I'm going to answer any questions over the phone about my CREDIT CARDS! I just told him I don't do phone surveys. I'm thinking he's probably just phishing.

The answer is....chocolate! Who cares what the question is.....

I let ALL my calls go to the answering system. Some times my fingers get numb from pushing the Delete button.

The last time I got a call from someone telling me "my windows are not working properly", I told him "Oh no, my windows are just fine, my son had storm windows installed all over my house." Then he said no, no, your computer. I told him I don't have one of those, I heard they cause cancer young man. That was a couple of weeks ago. I should get another call sometime soon. sigh!!!

Good for you Judith! Maybe you will be lucky and "Henry" will call. He's the nice guy who continually calls me. Probably several different guys, but they all call themselves Henry. Thank goodness my Sister doesn't get these calls. She would fall for it and pay whatever they asked and give them all her 'personal' information. Poor Sis. Next time I get a call, I'm asking them to hold and then going to watch TV. Will go back occasionally and ask if they are still there and then say someone is at the door, etc. Should be fun.

Many years ago I did what I usually do, cut the caller off with a 'no thanks' and hung up. He called back angry that I did that which shocked the heck out of me, said something about not having to talk to him to leave me alone. He calls again asking what was wrong with me and was it 'that time of the month' for me. When asked him to repeat the name of the company he worked for, he hung up. These calls happened within seconds of each other and began to scare me. At I was married just a few years, its the middle of a summer afternoon and hubby is at work. So I called the police who said that best thing I could do was unplug all the phones for a few hours and that usually works. This was long before cell phones. So, shortly after I talked with the cop and after calling to let him know in case he tried to call, the phones started ringing again. I unplugged the two in the house and heard yet another phone and remembered the one in the garage. Once hubby was back home, we plugged them all back in. Never had that happen again. I've heard of others who do some of the same things you all talk about and, for me, that takes nerve. What really angers me is, when they leave a message to chose whatever number on the phone to be placed on their do-no-call-list meaning their ignoring the national one and the info gets cut off so that there's not business info to refer to. I agree about the political call aspect, and that goes for non-profit organizations, too. I don't think they should be exempt. I don't know how many calls I received thanking for me for my contributions. A few were legitimately just saying thanks. Ohters called instead of sending yet another snail mail request. That was one area my ex and I agreed on, the frequency of requests meant getting bumped off our donation list. Sorry, guess I branched off a little, but robocallers and other useless calls just waste my time and irritate the heck out of me!
Life's a puzzle; one piece at a time.
