So, you're going to take the plunge for Windows 8.1, eh!? I wondered which way you would go! I'm always here to help if you need it... Keep that good old XP computer though. I've taken mine off line, but I'm sure not going to part with it.
I'm drooling on my keyboard here!

Well, you will have to hook it up to the internet as soon as you turn it on because you have to activate your copy of Windows 8.1 within 3 days. How's THAT for an excuse to just connect to the wireless and have at it!
I gave her all the pluses and minuses between Windows 7 and Windows 8!

Darleen, many people like Windows 8 - I'm one of them. The UI isn't my favorite and there are many things they could and should have done differently, but that's just my opinion. I like it for all the speed, stability and improvements "under the hood." I don't think you can tell Winfrey she won't like it - she did all the research and decided to go for it. She told me she wanted to be ready for Windows 9 and that's probably a good strategy.
Like I said, I provided all the pros and cons!

No, I didn't say that at all... sure you can go from Windows 7 to Windows 9 - or whatever they will be calling it. But learning the new OS will ease your way into the next one. It sort of keeps the learning curve down to a minimum. Basically, it's whatever people are comfortable with. I recommend to most people coming from XP to go to Windows 7 as it's less of a change. Going from XP to Windows 7 is still jumping ahead 2 operating systems. For those who are willing to take on the changes, then Windows 8.1 is a good choice.

Yup... going from XP to Windows 7 is jumping up 2 operating systems. Going from XP to Windows 8.1 is jumping up 3 operating systems.
Somehow, Winfrey, I have a feeling you can handle it with no problem at all!

I've said... any and all questions are welcome! Chief and I have solved several things so far!
I like pictures too and sometimes send some of my own taken with the cool new screenshot feature in Windows 8.
