I don't know what happened but for some reason when I open Firefox, I get: BetterSearch..net and nothing else but search with Bing. I want to get it back to: http://my.yahoo.com How do I get rid of this Better-Search?

You have a browser hijacker - first step is to run your Malwarebytes. If that doesn't find it, I've been using Adwcleaner to great effect lately. This page gives some instructions on this specific bit of nastiness... http://malwaretips.com/blogs/better-search-net-removal/

Just responded. If you've looked in Add/Remove and it's not there, Try Adwcleaner next... I used that Junkware Removal Tool for the first time last week and it worked great.
But do follow each of the steps in that link if they apply. Even after uninstalling, they can lurk in your browser. I recently had to do that with a browser hijacker I removed. I even had to go into the browser link properties and change the destination address.

Bets...I had the same thing happen to me....Sometimes your home page gets compromised by another program... Here's what I do to change it back...Go to Control panel, click on Internet options. In the box where is says homepage.. type in your page you want, then click save at the bottom.. For example : Google.com....Or MSN.com... Its not always a malware that causes the problem... Hope this helps you. Please let me know if that works for you... Just put in the new address...Log out of the browser ..Re open ,and you should have the homepage you want..

Darleen, this won't work if you have a browser hijacker. Every time you log back in to your browser, it will still be there. The one Bets has is a particularly nasty one and can be hard to get rid of.

Yay!
The computer I worked on a couple of weeks ago and used a similar process from this website I referred Bets to had... get ready... 979 pieces of malware on it! That's a record for me. Most computer shops would have simply reformatted and reinstalled the Vista OS. But I have time and the computer is now running like a well-oiled sewing machine. He had more than one browser hijacker and the process at this website got rid of all of them. So if anyone every has a similar problem, I would recommend the steps they detail for you.

A "mere" 780, eh? Not a contest I enjoy, Inland - I feel your pain! The mad Australian has been given a short course on downloading and not clicking on everything on the planet!

I don't think I ever had one of those...
Drac, why isn't the virus programs catching it before it hijacks your browser?

Because they are clever little monsters that are "technically" not viruses. They usually come piggy-backed on downloads which is another reason to be vigilant about unchecking all the "extras" they try to foist on you. That's why they are often called foistware. I have a thread here somewhere about the dangers of downloads - especially free ones - and how even some of the most respected download sites have gone to the dark side and load up their downloads with this junk for the sake of money.
