Timo, Have you played Post Mortem, the first game in the series? If not, it's totally about Gus. Here is the Gameboomers review. To me, this is the best of the Still Life games. Gil.

I'd recommend the Agatha Christie adventure games: And Then There Were None, Murder on the Orient Express and Evil Under the Sun. They are older games, and you might have already played them, but they meet your criteria. The first of these is my own particular favourite.

Timo, Have you ever been to http://www.gog.com?Ignore this if you have but you were talking about how much games cost and, boy, I can relate. GOG's games are usually a reasonable price and it is adjusted to be fair worldwide. If the price of a game you want is too high at the moment, they're always having sales so keep going back! GOG (Gee-O-Gee) originally meant Good Old Games though they carry newer to new games now as well, but the old ones are remastered to work on modern computers so that some which were unplayable not long ago are back with us again. (It's always wise to check to see which OS they will work on though.) Here's the page for Adventure Games. Click on the image of, say, Sanitarium and it will take you to information about it as well as reviews by people who've played it. You can always come back to Gameboomers Reviews if you're still not certain if you want to buy or not. (And speaking of Sanitarium, which you've probably played, it's a great game. I've never been able to get through the boss fight at the end but I don't really consider it a loss since I can watch the ending on YouTube and the rest of the game is well worth the price.) Did I mention that GOG's games are DRM-free? That you can burn copies for your own use though you have a shelf at GOG where all your games are stored for download any time you want them and as often as you like? You'd never know I love GOG, would you? Gil.

Could you tell me more about GOG? I went to the site but I'm not sure if what I would buy are stand alone games or if I have to have GOG software (like BigFish Manager) on my computer to run them. I ask because I saw all 3 Gabriel Knight games and it said compatible with Windows 7. Does that mean I won't have to tweak them or run a DosBox or other patches? Cheers

That's exactly what it means, mignonne. You don't have to do anything but play the game. If DOSBox is required, they've already added it and you're good to go. Btw, GOG updates games whenever an update comes along. Occasionally, some people run into trouble and when they do, there's a link to the forum for that particular game at the bottom of the game shelf which you'll see once you've selected it; people post solutions to the problems in the forums. If you don't see a solution, ask away and someone will help you. Failing that, you can always put in a support ticket at GOG. I have never had to put in a support ticket and I've got more games than I'm going to admit to on my shelf. They are standalone games. You can download them in your browser if you want to but I use the GOG installer. It speeds up the download a lot. If you use it, just download the installer then when you want to download a game go to your start menu and open the installer. Click on the game you want to download and say Yes when it asks if you want to use the installer. But unlike BigFish, you do NOT have to use it and the games will play just fine if you don't have it on your computer. Oh, and I like this a lot: checkout is FAST and they do NOT keep a record of your method of payment. Gil.

Timo, There's one really odd thing about Sanitarium...well, about the gameplay. There's a lot 'odd' about the game itself. You have to hold down your right mouse button and move the cursor onscreen to make Max walk. It's awkward at first but you get used to it and it's a weird and interesting game despite the old graphics. Which is to say, where else do you get to play an alien superhero, a little girl and an Aztec chieftain? Gil.
