The Last Crown: Blackenrock officially announced with new trailer here. Check out the screenshots here. Haarlem, The Netherlands - 8 May 2014 – Creator Jonathan Boakes has announced that his horror adventure ‘Crown’ franchise has now become a quadrilogy, with three games in simultaneous development. The newest game, titled The Last Crown: Blackenrock, set to release in 2014, takes place after the heralded first installment ‘The Lost Crown’, originally released back in 2008 and often listed as one of the scariest games ever made. Blackenrock will take place before the events unfolding in The Last Crown: Haunting of Hallowed Isle, announced earlier by publisher Iceberg Interactive and currently also in development. The quadrilogy will be concluded with The First Crown. Iceberg Interactive CEO Erik Schreuder says: “We often get questions when the next Crown game will be released, as does the developer. First of all we are thrilled that there is still a big following out there looking forward to the new Crown games. However, because of a synchronization of certain efforts, the developer has opted to develop the now three remaining games simultaneously, which means it absorbs a lot of time and planning is difficult, Darkling Room being a tiny studio. With this gameplay video we wish to reassure everyone that games ARE in production and progress is being made.” He continues: “All ‘Crown’ games will be coming to Steam as well, and we’re currently very busy with putting The Lost Crown onto the platform as soon as possible - and aim to announce a launchdate for it in the near future.” Darkling Room has released a six minute gameplay video for Blackenrock to show off some actual footage. The video is now streaming on the Iceberg Interactive Youtube Channel. Nine new screenshots have also been released. For more information about The Last Crown: Blackenrock, please visit http://www.thelastcrown.co.uk/ or check out the Facebook page for the latest news https://www.facebook.com/TheLastCrownGameAbout The Last Crown: Blackenrock Nigel Danvers is haunted. Ever since Halloween, after that brief but disturbing experiment with the Spiritboard, he has felt someone, or something, calling to him. What is the significance of the word 'Blackenrock'? Is it a name, an item, an event, a place? Joining Nigel on his mysterious mission is fellow ghost-hunter Lucy Reubans. Together, they must delve deep into Saxton's murky past, to learn secrets long since buried by those that fear 'The Return'. Armed with upgraded ghost gadgets, they must seek answers from the dead and uncover a century old murder mystery. All the clues regarding Blackenrock lead out to sea, through the dense fog, away from the safety of Saxton. A trip into the unknown! The scattered rocky remnants of old Ulcombe make for treacherous waters, as the claw-like rocks seem to stand guard, preventing all but the most brave from discovering what hides beyond. Happy Gaming! Ana

Thanks, Ana! Great news. And hopefully the mention of an announcement in the near future is a good sign. I really hope the game shows up on GOG as well as Steam, however, as that is where I'd prefer to get my copy.

That was just a small teaser that has grown into a larger full game. Halloween Haunting was the original name for the Blackenrock. Ana

Thank You, Ana.. I must say I am not overly enthusiastic about the game at this point in time. Until I see a definite release date... Its a lot of "Who Shot John" I am so disappointed with the Halloween version. That never made it to our computers. So , My Opinion is "Don't shout it out, Unless its Out... Also What ever happen to Bracken Thor?

It's a work in progress and part of being an Indie Developer is that he can turn his creative vision into reality as he sees fit. The wonderful things about Jonathon's games is the well thought out story and matching atmosphere and if he finds it suits him better to write and create them all at the same time to get his vision across then he should do so. I can't wait either, but at least I know he is putting his heart and soul into making it great. Ana

Is this the reason it is taking so long for this game to be released? This seems dubious at best. Instead of developing and releasing one game at a time a year or so apart, they are making four games at once and then releasing them all at once or what? I loved the first game, one of my favorites, but this seems strange to me.... Mr boakes is also a college/uni lecturer and is doing the games in his spare time with matt Clark. Be patient and it will be with us soon! I'm so excited about the new games!

So glad to see an update. Thanks, Ana. Not wild about the Halloween teaser, really. But it was good to see. No spoilers there, folks.
We'll outgrow the walk-throughs, yeah, we really will.

I know we all love Jonathans upcoming games...But I am so disappointed in the post here. Stop being scared to post what you really feel....I am so tired of hearing excuses after excuses.... From what I heard in the grapevine... None of his games will hit your computers until maybe 2015... BLAH... While I respect Game Boomers for their post on up coming games....I am disappointed with the Indie Developer... Mr. Boakes for not taking the time to explain what happen to the Halloween version of the game. This is my opinion........... I respectfully ask....Please stop posting about his games, until we have a real release date on some game????

I'm sorry you're so disappointed, but many of us are excited to hear more news about what Mr. Boakes is doing, so I'd respectfully ask that the news keep on coming! Being good friends with another Indie game developer, I know very well how painstaking the process is and how frustrating it can be under the best of circumstances. Throw in a real job and family and money and setbacks - there can sometimes be a love/hate relationship with game development. I also fail to see why Mr. Boakes - or any other developer for that matter - should be expected to keep every gaming website on the internet apprised of his every move.
We have the perfect liaison in Ana to keep us up to date and I have plenty of other games to keep me busy until 2015, so keep the posts coming!
Gardens put to bed. Time for more reading and gaming.

Darleen, please feel free to ignore any updates here, no one is forcing you to read them. You complain when there is an update, and you complain when there is not one, so I am no longer concerned about keeping you happy. I do not believe it's possible. You also were told what became of the Halloween Haunting game, just because "Mr. Boakes" did not come here and explain it himself instead of my posting it, doesn't change the facts. He had every intent of releasing the mini game and being a creative person, the more he worked on it, the more his thought process got more ideas and he now is making a full game called Blackenrock and the Crown Trilogy is now a Quadrilogy instead of releasing a mini game. He has full right to do so. You were not deceived, he just went in a different direction. We live in a free society and he is allowed to change his mind. Drac, well said.
