Paul, walk up to the door that has the sign over it and right click on the door (I think it's right click). Now you have to figure out a way to get the key, and you have the stuff in your inventory to do it.
If you want more specific advice, just yell...

In the first place, Paul, I never could figure out a way to save, so you probably are going to have to start over. Try right clicking on the door and opening it again.
If that's not the problem, then short of rebooting and closing everything but Explorer and Systray, I really don't know what's happening...

You are doing the exact same thing I did for ages and ages, Paul. You aren't going to use the candle for light--what else do you have that could be a source of light if it worked? And what do you have that could fix it?
Yell if you want more specific instructions--and all I could find on the expected date of the game was first quarter 2003...

Paul, don't ask me how you are supposed to know this, except by trial and error, but right-click on the chess piece that is at the far left of your inventory...

Cindi, you won't be able to get into that locked gate in the demo, so don't worry about it. As for the candle and lighter, did you notice the small door to the right of the fireplace? But getting in might be a problem.......SPOILER * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Pet the cat sitting on the mantelpiece...

Try right clicking on the chess piece in your inventory and see what you get.
Even monkeys fall from trees sometimes.

Jenny, Thanks again ! The only thing I didn't try was right clicking in inventory. I finished the demo and will get the game when it comes out. I am sure they will have instructions with the game. lol ! Cindi
