No matter what I do, I cannot use the crane to get into Bateman's Room in Finland. I think I am following the walkthrough correctly, however Lara never will use the crane even though I believe I have it directed at the window.

I turn it on, I press the stabilizer button, I adjust the crane arm to direct it at the window. It is extended as far as it will go. Any suggestions as to what I may be doing wrong. Of course, I cannot continue in the game without solving this.

This sequence sounds a bit fiddly. From the walkthrough:

Quote:
Go outside and open the cabinet with controls of the recovery crane.

Press the top red button to start the engine.

Press the red button at bottom left to get the 4 stabilizers to hold the truck firmly.

The levers can be clicked on at top and at bottom.

Adjust the arm so that it is a bit diagonal to prevent hitting anything. Use the middle lever - click the top part until it can't move anymore. The crane is diagonal.

Turn it to get the top part facing the roof now. Use left lever to turn. (See picture.)

Now extend the crane to reach the window. Use the right lever.

Adjust the 3 levers until Lara says that it now faces room number 2.

Do you have a place not too far back where you could restore your game and try playing through this again?

Otherwise, MaG probably has a saved game that would get you past this section, if needed. luck

I'm doing this exactly; but Lara says - "careful, Lara if I move it a bit more the truck will probably fall over; I have to stabilize it somehow". IT IS STABILIZED. No matter how many times I "tweak" the left and right levers, I get the same message.

Sounds frustrating. Let's wait for further help - I don't have any saves for this game.

After the crane is angled toward the roof, turned and extended, any hint as to the order in which I should touch the levers after that? Top or bottom? Also, will Lara automatically climb into the window when the crane is correctly placed? I'm looking at the picture, and it looks exactly like I HAVE IT AIMED. Confused!!!

Thinking about it more, if Lara is saying that she needs to stabilize it somehow, then it means you have not pressed the red button at the bottom left of the panel. You might need to do this at the start.

I have pushed the button to start the crane and I have pushed the button to stabilize the crane. Lara even SAYS it is stabilized BEFORE I begin playing with the levers.

When extending the crane, I found I had to do this in small stages, eg. click the lever, let go, click again, let go until the crane has extended all the way to the open window. There is at least 4 parts of the crane to extend. Good luck wave
