I know this is an old game but I found a way to play it on my WIN98. I'm stuck now and I sure hope someone can help. I'm in act 2 at the calculator. There are some numbers and letters on the walkthrough. I can't figure out what the symbol is in between 46X2 and 71NV=5. Am I supposed to put that symbol in the calculator? I don't have a clue what it is. I'm using the walkthrough from GB. I'm supposed to get bugs I guess. Whatever that means. think

I guess what I need to know is what numbers came up in Kathryn's computer after you put the disc in. All I get is scrambled stuff at the top of the page. I can't read the numbers. Thanks Jenny.

I know that part but what does the sign after the 2 mean? I can't find it on the calculator.

This is what I found:
2

46 X 2 / 7inv = 5

(Actually / is replaced in the real formula by the "divided by" sign from standard algebra... hard to reproduce on a computer keyboard without one!)

It didn't work MaG. I typed exactly what you wrote but when I enter the = sign and then 5, all I get it a 5. I'm stumped. frown

I've been trying to work out the equation on paper, and I can't make it equal 5 no matter how I go about it! But I'll be the first to admit that math isn't my strongest subject...

According to some notes I had on the game, 46 X 2 meant 46 squared (46 x 46) not 46 times 2. Does that help??

Midge, if you're getting scrambled stuff at top of screen etc you may need to install the patch for the game. I'm pretty sure you won't have to start over after installing the patch. Just drag and drop (or extract) the Ripper.exe to your Ripper folder (or whatever you named it) on your hard drive. It will fix alot of the mini bugs associated with the game.

hope this helps,

Midge,

Did you notice that the "x2" is a button on the calculator? It is on the left of the INV button.

Hi LadyLinda. Yes I knew that but I still can't get the calculator to come out to 5. If anyone has a saved game right after the calculator I'd surely appreciate it. Thanks.

The solution is not to get it to come out to 5.

Enter the full equation as shown:
Enter 46, hit the 'x2' button, hit the 'divide by' button, enter 7, hit the 'inv' button, hit the 'equal' button, enter 5.

A drawer will open.
