This sounds promising, but I have real doubts about it ever happening. The "MYST Movie" has been discussed and re-discussed for years, but we've seen nothing. There has long been a rather vague series of allusions to a fourth MYST novel, but it has never appeared. This is in no way a denigration of the reporter or this site, but we MYST fans have been here before.

Hi gamenut. You referred to a "New Myst Game." When, what, etc.? Did I miss an announcement?

I'd rather have a new Myst type game (but unlike URU, have NO JUMPING!! Maybe you should clarify that. Considering all the fun some people have had jumping all over the balconies in D'Ni, it would be a big mistake to hamstring them and deprive them of that fun. "No required jumping" (like in Gahreesen) would be a better request. NO TIMED PUZZLES (like the pressure plate area). Or even worse -- sitting around for 15 minutes waiting for something to happen. I don't know of anyone who enjoys that. The ability to tweak to avoid motion sickness would also be important. The ability to slow down and smooth out motion, along with the ability to increase your apparent height off the ground would help a lot more than the pseudo-point-and-click alternative they had in Myst V (which was actually worse for motion sickness than the FPS-controlled option). But I think every Myst fan in this forum would rather have another Myst game than a TV show. The frequency, length, stupidity, and loudness of commercial interruptions on TV exceeded my level of tolerance years ago. If they're not going to make another Myst game, I'd rather a book or a movie.

I'm with you gamenut and Jenny100. Another Myst game would be fantastic and if it could include the old Myst environments as well as new places to explore that would be even better. I can picture being on Myst Island with a bridge connecting to a new world to explore and continue the story!

I too have been jonesing for another MYST or good myst-like game. I have little faith in a TV series being any good. Sit there and passively watch some surgically enhanced actor do the puzzle solving? Ycch!

Its real!!! Just received Emails from Cyan.... “Myst,” the popular Spokane-made video game that became a cultural icon, will be turned into a live-action TV series.
Cyan Worlds, the maker of “Myst” and several later versions of the game, announced it has signed a deal with Burbank, California-based Legendary Pictures to make a video version of the time-traveling story on which the game is based.
Rand Miller, CEO of Cyan Worlds, said his company will not be directly involved in the production.
“We’re willing to give up (some control) of the project. We realized we are good at games, and Legendary is good at what they do,” Miller said.
