Black Sails - The Ghost Ship is a 3rd person, point and click horror-mystery adventure game that was produced in 2010 by Deck13 but was never officially localized in English.

This patch is made for the German retail release and converts everything, besides speech obviously, to English.

I always wanted to play this game.
It looked so much more interesting than the games the company DID translate into English. But it's hard to find now.

Hi Ana,
I have tried to purchase the download version and I get a message that says: "Downloads available for German customers only.". I then tried to buy the boxed version and received a message saying: "We cannot ship this item to this (my) address." The Amazon.de site recognizes my name, address, my Amazon ID, AND my Amazon password, but when it comes to the Checkout procedure, I get the above messages. I guess I won't be able to purchase this game after all. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Looking at the Black Sails games on Amazon Germany, it looks like they only ship to Europe. You might be able to buy a copy on eBay - there's a seller here who says he does worldwide shipping.

Maybe there's a workaround on Amazon Germany that I'm not seeing.

I've bought games from Amazon Germany before, but there may be restrictions on downloads and some of the sellers only ship to Europe. Amazon has more than one page for the game.

When they do ship to the USA, they use Global Express which can cost more than the game. I've only bought from them when I had several games I wanted to order at once, so the shipping cost per game was less.

Is there any way to translate German to English on the web site.

I use Google CHrome and just right click on the page and select translate.

I use Google translator and copy/paste the link in the box on the left.

You may have to choose the language to translate from in the dropdown box because it can't auto-detect language if it's a link.

Sometimes websites use non-text, non-html things like Flash that the translator won't translate. Occasionally you can still copy/paste into the translation box to get a translation of a section of text. With long webpages, the translator may stop translating partway down, so you have to copy/paste the text in the translation box.

Amazon.de does have a "Help for English" webpage

But when you click on "USA" on the shipping page it takes you to a German webpage -- at least it does for me.

Note that you will not be able to buy a German download version.
You'll have to buy a disc version.
And you'll have to use Global Express for shipping, which is expensive, but I think it offers tracking.

Rishard, I use Google Chrome as my browser. When I go to the German site and to amazon.de, the translation from German to English is automatic, so there is no language barrier for me. HAPPY GAMING!

OK. I can purchase a boxed copy of this game for $28 including shipping, from EBAY I'm considering it right now. It would be shipped from Germany.

Sandy, that sounds like a good deal. I ordered the game yesterday on German Amazon and ended up paying 17.16 euros for the game and 14.35 euros for shipping, which came out to $40.53 in US dollars. I also tried the download route but it wouldn't go through.

Dianne, if you were to order the game, it would be in German. You would then have to download the English patch in order to play the game in English; details are in the first post in this thread.

OK, fellow Boomers,
I have "bitten the bullet" by purchasing this game (boxed version)
from EBAY. The total cost was $29.15 USD. It will be shipped from Germany. BTW, there are TWO patches listed on the game site. One is to upgrade the game and the second patch is for the English translation. Patch #1 should be downloaded first (according to the instructions on the game website). I have already downloaded both patches and the English walkthrough Talk about "anticipating". LOL

That's too bad, Richard. Did you do a search on the ebay site for "Black Sails PC Game"? That's how I found it.
I just went back to ebay, and you are right. It's not there any more.
There were 2 left just before I made my purchase. The amazon.de site wasn't much help. They wouldn't ship it to my New York address, even though I was willing to pay their shipping fee. I'm sorry.
