If you enter the hall from the outside you have to go to your right as far as I know and you'll find the professor looking at a statue. beaver

You cannot cross the river to get to the detroyed city. The gate to the secret garden can be accessed by going over the bridge that goes across the rail tracks (not parallel)or by going further down from the ornery birds and going to the path to enter the garden. Enter the garden area and at the end is a closed gate.

Did you use liquified honey? Have you placed the vodka where it should be? Just follow the recipe given to you over the phone. There is a list of the alcohol setup on the bar - it is a rolled paper.This gives a clue on which liquor is what on the piano control dispenser. After dispensing the correct alcohol, then you can just proceed on the rest of the recipe by pressing the iconed buttons.
