Good morning everyone Emergency rations with instant coffee and knäckebröd available in the break room. Over here -4 Celsius and still pretty dark. The coffee is dark too. Some poor guys in other parts of the country were apparently stuck in their cars for hours due to local heavy snowfall. It wasn't mentioned if the stuck drivers had emergency rations but those could have come in handy. Happy Saturday and be safe GameBoomers

Good Morning Ana, Copper, Mad, Beasong, connie, soot, hagatha, Draclvr Fogfighter and everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew and a latte for Copper are ready and waiting! Hope you all stay safe and warm with all that stormy weather in Canada. We had over 1+ inches of soaking rain yesterday and a few showers are expected this morning. It is in the 30s right now...I'm not use to the cold...we have had such a mild fall this year...no frost on the ground yet and I have not seen my breath yet when out walking...thats how warm its been! Hope you all have a warm and safe weekend! Gerry

Greetings one and all, I hope you stay safe! We have storm Bert chucking down large quantities of rain and blowing quite a gale in some places, so flooding an fallen trees are disrupting most services, but we are in a relatively sheltered spot and can probably stay put until things improve, hoping not to lose power as a result of any tree damage to lines elsewhere... I know that in other parts of the British Isles people are suffering far more.

Good Saturday morning! I had a message from a former member here, Rosaboobie, last night. She lives in northern Scotland and is getting hammered by snow, cold and rain. She sent me a picture of her little Jack Russell terrier who was almost buried in the snow!
Meeting the fam again at an oak fired pizza place this afternoon. Then it will be back to "normal" starting tomorrow! Then it will start all over with Thanksgiving and my two adult grandkids here for a week!
Gardens put to bed. Time for more reading and gaming.

Good morning everyone,
Last night's storm didn't cause any power outages and it wasn't nearly as bad as expected, at least not here. I wonder if all of the vulnerable trees have already fallen? Anyway. it was a relief.
Have a great we!ekend
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good to hear about Rosaboobie, Drac. I remember her well. Tell her I said hello. I am still on the "hope I don't lose power" list; the possibility is now Monday/Tuesday with buckets of rain. We had a lot of wind last night and some rain; fortunately we survived the wind. I will be glad when it's Wednesday, whatever the outcome, so that we can start to dry out. Take care, everyone!

Good Morning Lex, connie, soot, Draclvr, hagatha, Fogfighter, Marian, Mad, SpaceQ, and everyone! I've put on an extra pot of Wide Awake Double Dark Brew along with fresh brewed tea with so many visiting the Break Room! So much bad weather all over the world right now! Climate is changing everywhere. I hope everyone stays safe and doesn't lose power. There were some outages here, but I was one of the lucky ones and didn't lose power yesterday. it was very windy and raining yesterday so no walking...hope to walk today if the weather cooperates. Enjoy your day and be safe! Gerry

Good Sunday morning! Nice sunny warmish day here - going to be over 70 degrees F. Then rapidly plummeting to lows in the 20's at night later this week. Definitely cold for Thanksgiving here in the US on Thursday. We'll be doing two as usual this year. Our granddaughter and her husband were able to get leave from the Army for a few days, so we get to see them this year. Then we will do our own quiet Thanksgiving dinner for just the two of us on Saturday. I always look forward to cooking that meal - probably my favorite of the year!
Same here, soot! Running my robot vacuum in the living room to get all the cat and dog hair under the furniture and hand vacuuming the rest. You would think they would quite shedding once it gets cold!

Good Monday morning! Hope your week is off to a good start. Only thing on my agenda is a trip in town to get more expensive meds and cat food! Then off to the grocery store.
I'm going to be glad that we have several days of below freezing temps just to stop the cursed Asian Lady Beetles. I have piles of them everywhere, especially under the windows in this 100+ year old farmhouse. I vacuum them up every day, but they STINK! They aren't as bad this year as some others.
Love those pictures, Lex!

Good morning everyone.
It's a Pilates morning and then I need to do some more work in the garage, maybe put some more boxes down in the crawl space.
Have a great Monday!

Crisp and sunny here today, a respite from the rain but possibly only a brief one, just long enough for a final cut of the grass for this year. Apparently a wise man once said: "If you understand why Pizzas are made round, packed in square boxes and then eaten in triangular slices... then my friend you will understand women."

Good Tuesday morning! Cold and sunny here today. Soot, forecast for Saturday is chance of snow with lows in the teens. Winter is definitely here.
Did some shopping for Thanksgiving yesterday. I am bringing the dressing to step-son and DIL's house on Thursday which I always do in a crock pot and some sweet corn. Then I will do another full dinner for just us on Saturday. Hubby hates brussels sprouts and I love them, so I'm trying a new recipe for me... Maple Glazed Brussels Sprouts with roasted acorn squash, dried cranberries and pecans.

Good morning all.
It's a chores day today. I still have bare walls and an excess of large framed nature photographs. John was a superb photographer, and happily I have many pictures to choose from.
Then it's off to Canadian Tire to pick up some cleaner for my hardwood floors.
Draclvr, I am one of those who dislikes Brussel Sprouts, but if they have crumbled bacon on them, it's a different story, Yours sound marvellous.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Wednesday morning - by only one minute I see! Lazy day today as it gets colder. Hubby asked for sauerkraut and sausage with mashed potatoes today, so I will throw that together later. Will get my bread cubed, onions, celery and sausage cooked and put my dressing together in the crock pot for dinner tomorrow.

Good morning everyone. Emergency rations with instant coffee and Hershey's kisses available in the break room. Should keep you going until the real Thanksgiving treats arrive. Over here thanksgiving is not a thing and Mr Snow is returning. Seems it will be winter this season too. Happy Thanksgiving, to those who celebrate

Good morning everyone. I'm off to Pilates and then some chores in town. It's cold now, below zero at night. The landscapers were here yesterday for the Fall cleanup, and now my garden is all nicely trimmed and raked and put to bed. Hopefully pruning the Wisterias now will result in blooms next Spring; they didn't bloom this year, but the landscaper explained that they were covered in very old growth and a good prune should set them straight. I hit the online Black Friday sales (which have been going on for a few days) and am expecting a couple of packages, some gifts for family and gifts for me, too
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Got my stuffing made and in the crock pot to take to step-son and DIL's today. I've been reading about some of the different stuffing traditions around the country. I've had cornbread based stuffing that is more common in the south and it's quite good. The Pennsylvania Dutch make something called "filling" which is a combination of stuffing and mashed potatoes baked in a casserole. I hated my Grandma's stuffing because she put all the stuff in it that I hated - hearts and gizzards and livers. Yuck! Some people swear by apples and raisins in their stuffing. We prefer the good old basic bread stuffing with nothing more fancy in it but onions, celery and seasonings. I do fry up half a pound of breakfast sausage to add since I'm making it in a crock pot and not in the bird. However you celebrate the day here in the US or don't have Thanksgiving - enjoy the day!

Good Friday morning! No Black Friday shopping for me! I loathe shopping to being with and the idea of crowded shopping is enough to send me under the bed!
Thanksgiving dinner yesterday was fine, but tomorrow's is the real dinner with just us. Will brine my turkey overnight and roast it tomorrow.
I think it got down to 22 Degrees F which is about - 6 C! We have a slight chance of light snow for tomorrow. Winter is here!

Good morning everyone.
We're into our drab winter weather. Not much planned for today; it might just be a gaming day, with breaks for a spot of much-needed laundry before my sister gets here for a visit.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good morning to the day after "I ate way too much but so enjoyed every bite day!" The grandboys were up at the crack of dawn while everyone else slept in. We'll enjoy thanksgiving cooking for a number of days. Can't believe we're at T-minus 25 days before Christmas. Have a wonderful Friday everyone

Good Morning Fogfighter, connie, Draclvr, soot, hagatha, and everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready to warm you on this cold start to the day! Fogfighter sounds like a great adventure cruising across the Baltic Sea in February! I'm with you Draclvr no Black Friday shopping for me either! Hagatha enjoy your visit with your sister. How long is she staying? It is hard to believe soot that Christmas will be here in less then a month! Hope you all have a great day! Gerry

Good afternoon! I've been cooking all day for our own Thanksgiving dinner. Just decided to sit down with a glass of wine. It's an indulgence I allow myself when I cook Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner! It's just an amazing white that Petra brought me from Germany this summer. Told her I was saving it for Thanksgiving! They are in a region called Franken and this was given a Franken Gold Award. Wow...
Brussels sprouts and butternut squash are roasting in the oven in the garage. I have done the maple glazed walnuts and just have to crumble a couple slices of bacon. I have about half a dozen big red tomatoes left from the garden and I think I'm going to put together a small "Guenter Tomato Salat." It's just sliced tomatoes and onions with a good balsamic vinegar, a tiny bit of sugar and some olive oil... salt and pepper.

Good Morning Fogfighter, connie, soot, Draclvr, hagatha and everyone. Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready! Fogfighter I'm sure being on a cruise ship in the open sea will be an adventure without icebergs or a Bermuda Triangle! Draclvr you deserve a treat of a nice white wine with all that cooking you do...your tomato salad reminds me of one my mom use to make...it was delicious! I will have to make one...haven't had one in years. Enjoy the First day of December! Gerry

Good Sunday morning! Hubby and I had a proper "food coma" after our dinner yesterday! A small piece of cheesecake pumpkin pie with freshly whipped cream later in the evening was the perfect end to the day!
We got about 2 or 3 inches of really pretty snow during the day. Since we are out in the woods, the trees are all beautiful. Not terribly cold at 28 degrees F/-2 degrees C. The bird feeder is VERY busy this morning with lots of pretty bright red cardinals. juncos, tufted titmice and all sorts of birds. I wish my knees would let me take a long walk in the woods today.
Hubby is just miserable in this weather with his knees. He gets his first replacement in January.

Good Sunday morning Draclvr, Connie, Gerry, Fogfighter, Hagatha and everyone. 28 degrees here this morning which is a little colder than normal for December ... but winter is just around the corner. Sparrows, cardinals, chickadee's, tufted titmice, morning doves and blue jays are chowing down on our feeders. Daughter, SIL and grandkids headed home this monring after visiting last week for Thanksgiving. Wishing you all a wonderful December 1st!

Good morning everyone.
It's a lovely day here for a change. Had to drive into Nanaimo for an appointment earlier, and now I'm getting the guest room ready for my sister's three-day visit from Victoria. Nothing much on the radar otherwise. I'll go out and prune back a shrub that got leggy later on. I can see it from the dining room and it's annoying me!
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Monday Morning! Cyber Monday today, but no shopping for me.
Will be heading in to our local Aldi to start my shopping for the Volunteer Brunch down at the horse rescue ranch Saturday.
Started digging out all my extra blankets for when they kids arrive on Wednesday! They are usually here in the summer, so not much bedding is needed.
Gardens put to bed. Time for more reading and gaming.

Good morning everyone.
I'm off to get my sister shortly.
Guests have become a problem recently, because Dude won't come back into the house if there's someone here. That was fine in the Summer and Fall, but now it's too cold to leave him out overnight. It adds a layer of difficulty to any plans I might have to travel. I'm hoping that he remembers my sister and doesn't freak out when he sees her.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

It always takes a little time for one of my cats to warm up to visitors. Hopefully, Dude will figure it out! My barn cat Wally seems to do just fine out in the hayloft with plenty of hidey holes and a couple of kitty beds.

Good Tuesday morning! Brrr... 17 degrees F last night and even colder tonight. The WADDB is really hitting the spot this morning. I MADE Bella the Bloodhound sleep inside last night. She much prefers her straw bale nest we build for her on the hummingbird porch, but some nights I bring her in whether she likes it or not!
Didn't quite finish my brunch shopping so have to make another run in town today. Need to make a stop at the PO to mail my brother a few bottles of my hot sauces.
We had snow flurries yesterday, but they didn't amount to much. With hubby's bad knees, he has enlisted the kids next door to shovel sidewalks when we do get snow. They are 9 and 6 and I'm sure will love getting a $20 bill!

Good morning all,
Time for some nice coffee and treats from the break room this morning, as It's a nice day and a long walk is in order.
After a bit of grumbling Dude was okay yesterday. It reminds me of my last cat, Rachel, who was skittish around everyone except my family members, and she took to them immediately even though she saw them rarely. We must have a common scent or something.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Morning connie, soot, Draclvr, hagatha, Fogfighter and everyone. Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready as usual along with some English Breakfast tea. We had a few snow flurries last night...enough to coat the deck and driveway! The first snow of the season and really cold this morning! Hope you all stay warm and have a great day! Gerry

Good Wednesday evening! Picked up the grandkids from the airport today and have been catching up and telling stories since! They are 23 and 20, so it's quite different having them here as adults without their parents. It's going to be a fun week!

Good Friday morning everyone.
My sister's visit was fun. We went on a short but intense hike up Notch Hill, and enjoyed a fabulous view of the Vancouver Island mountains, the Salish Sea, and the Mainland. The trees on Notch Hill are all Garry Oaks and Arbutus trees, which grow sparsely, allowing for much sunlight on the trail. It's a lovely trail, and a great cardio workout.
She had to leave a day early for work, unfortunately.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Thursday morning! Stayed up way too late with the grands showing them pictures they'd never seen of their Grandpa - my first husband - who passed away before they were born. So, we all slept in this morning! Hubby and Frank headed up to our other farm to take the deer stands down. His knees are just killing him, so he's really grateful for the help. Anna Lucy is in an on-line graduate school, so she had a class this morning and is studying for a final.
They are going to go to league bowling with me tonight. Hope they don't get too bored!

Good morning everyone.
I went out for coffee with friends from my Pilates class yesterday. It's a fun group of people. I feel as though I'm finally settling in here.
Today is a nothing day. It's dark and rainy and I feel like just pottering around, maybe do some laundry, play a game, finish the last episodes of Blacklist.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Hello gang, I hope you are all enjoying the weekend! We seem to be having back to back storms here at the moment with gale force winds and lots rain bringing flooding and quite a few fallen trees, but so far we have been lucky in terms of limited damage anywhere near our house and lack of power failures. I was wondering whether anyone had any recent news of family: the last I saw was mention of a stroke back in June, and a search reveals no more recent posts.
Life is what happens while you're making other plans.

I might PM Family. She did respond last time I did that.
Our power is out again. In a year and a half there have been more outages here than in my entire time in Campbell River.

Very scary weather here in the NW of the UK. Ridiculous wind speeds and torrential rain, and, sadly, about 12 miles from me, one of the trees that was brought down killed a man in his van 🥺 And wind gusts in one area reached 96 mph !!
Supposedly, the winds should be starting to relent a little by Sunday but at the moment they are still fiercely raging full scale all round my house 🙄
Further south, conditions in England are even worse, with severe flooding expected from the sea making inroads on a vast area of coastline land AND South Wales is set for extremely punishing floods 😱

Good Sunday morning Fogfighter, Gerry, SpaceQ, connie, hagatha, Lex, Marian, Mad, Draclvr and all who follow! Gerry, the clinic visit was timely and smooth…just like your wide awake double dark brew. Glad you are feeling comfortable and settling in hagatha--hope you hear from family. Stay safe and dry Mad and Lex with your blustery weather. Wishing you all a wonderful day.

Good Sunday morning! I am finally resurfacing after the marathon cooking for 35 people down at the horse rescue ranch. Whew! The help from the two grandkids was wonderful and their home made cinnamon rolls were well-received along with all the other yummy food. I think I finally sat down at 10 pm Friday night! Frank has been a great help for Grandpa with his super painful knees. We were all in a food coma when we got home yesterday! My son who lives nearby came over and shot clay birds with Frank and Anna Lucy. Anna Lucy is a little thing and she has quite a bruised shoulder, but they both hit more clay birds than they missed! I managed to pull on my reserves and made home made pizza for everyone. We sat around the table and laughed for a long time - Anna Lucy and I polished off a bottle of wine! My son and I were sharing stories about his dad - their Grandpa who died before they were born.
Kitchen clean-up continues and I can't wait to get it back in order and to mop the filthy floor! Then I think this tired old Grandma is going to take the day off.
Mad, I have been following that horrendous weather in the UK. I need to check in with Rosaboobie and see how she's faring - she's in the north of Scotland.
Gardens put to bed. Time for more reading and gaming.

It has warmed up into the 30s here so I was able to walk this weekend...felt good to get out in the fresh air! i will run errands this morning in town and then take another 3 mile walk before the rain comes this afternoon. Good morning everyone.
Not much on the horizon today. I'll be off to Pilates shortly and then the Vet Tech will be here to trim Willow's nails. I'll send Family a PM later this morning.
Have a great Monday!
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Monday morning! Ahhh... the grands are both still in bed, so I'm enjoying the complete quiet and my 2nd cup of WADDB.
This is their last day here, so we'll try to think of something to do. I'm thinking we might drive over to the neighboring town and visit the Missouri Meerschaum Corn Cob Pipe factory. It's an interesting place and has been in business for over 150 years. They sell corn cob pipes all over the world. The special corn for the pipes is grown just a few miles away. In the 1800's they used buffalo bone for the mouth pieces. Frank's been wanting BBQ and there is a great restaurant over there, so maybe we'll hit that too. We'll take them to the airport about noon tomorrow.
Just ONE more load in the dishwasher and I'm all caught up from the cooking marathon! I could wash by hand, but most of this gets put away, so I want it to be squeaky clean. Gerry, I was clocking right at 2 - 3 miles every day according to my Fitbit while I was cooking!

Good morning Gerry, Draclvr, hagatha, connie and all who pop in today. Oh my goodness Draclvr, I would want a smaller kitchen so as not to walk so much...but then again you are getting some good exercise. Have fun with the grands this morning. Gerry, it's been raining all night and hopefully will continue for most of the day. I got my walk in during a break in the rain this morning. Grocery shopping is on my agenda today, but before that I am relaxing with a couple of cups of wide awake double dark brew! Have a wonderful toosday everyone

Good Wednesday morning! Ah, blissful quiet while I enjoy my WADDB. Will get some breakfast into the kids and then head down to the airport about 12:30 in order to get them there an hour early at 1:30. They travel light with just backpacks and laptops. Anna Lucy got them both checked in yesterday and they just use the QR codes instead of boarding passes.
I hope they had a good time in spite of it being winter. Frank struggles with social anxiety, and this has always been his "happy place," so I hope he got a good recharge. He's sure been a great help to his Grandpa with his really bad knees. While she was here Anna Lucy finished her last exams for her Master's degree and is now on the hunt for a job.

Good Morning soot, Connie, Draclvr, hagatha, Fogfighter and everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready to start your day. Soot I got to go for a walk yesterday with my friend and neighbor...another 4 miles. Draclvr it sounds like they had a wonderful time with you and hubby for sure! Hope you all have a good day! Gerry

Good Wednesday morning! Temp hovering right around freezing today, so the WADDB really hits the spot.
Grands transported to the airport yesterday and are safely back home in Colorado. I hope they enjoyed their visit as much as we did even if it was in the winter.
Must catch up on laundry today and mop floors. But first, I'm going to enjoy my morning coffee and do my Wordle!
Fogfighter, I'm not aware of any Linux users here at GB. But you might ask your question in our Adventure Games Discussion forum.

Good morning everyone and happy Wednesday to one and all. Enjoyed the brisk temps this morning with 20 mph winds and gusts up to 35 mph. We received 3.5 inches of rain these past days and were happy to get that for everyone. Stay warm and enjoy the day!

Good morning everyone!
Fogfighter, I quite like a nice quiet snowfall as long as there's no drama. The first snowfall in Toronto was always the best. After that it just got grim and dirty. Of course here we tend to have wet snow that melts quickly and creates road hazards because few people here know how to drive in it.
Nothing much planned for the day. I'm going to a neighbourhood Christmas party tonight and am looking forward to that.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good morning connie, Fogfighter, Gerry, Space Quest Fan, hagatha, Draclvr and all who follow. Hope you get a walk in later today Gerry. Wow Fogfighter, little to no wind raising electricity prices is awful! I miss the quiet snow falls and wintery white blankets of snow. C'est la vie... But do so enjoy WADDB, knäckebröd and bagels. Stay warm everyone and have a wonderful Thursday

Good Thursday morning! Still running cold, but not below freezing here. Tolerable for me, but miserable for hubby and his poor knees. That first knee replacement can't come soon enough in January.
Our German family went to the Canary Islands for 3 weeks, so they are escaping those high energy prices... while lounging on the beach!
Not much on the agenda today, but I have league bowling tonight.

Good morning everyone.
The party last night was a great success. There are a few new people in the neighbourhood, so lots of new friends. This street really is different; everyone knows everyone else. It a tiny one-block street right at the top end of a peninsula, with about 20 houses. It was a good pick for me.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good morning everyone.
We're in the throes of a nasty winter storm right now - wind and driving rain and gloom. It was going to be a Pilates morning but the landscaper is coming over to review the lawn maintenance plan for next year, which means a walkabout in the rain. Ugh.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Friday morning! I just barely made it before noon. Had to take hubby to the eye doctor this morning. He usually gets an eye injection, but his macular degeneration is doing so well with the treatments that he didn't have to get one. He was a happy camper! I was explaining to the grands that as awful as it sounds, in the days before cataract surgery and treatments for vision issues, people were just blind. Hard for them to fathom.
Just doing what little Christmas decorating I do here today. It's just us and hubby doesn't like Christmas, so I decorate for me!

LOL! Ah, Fogfighter... lutefisk. A traditional food when I was growing up - on my Norwegian side of the family - I hated it! The stuff smells so incredibly BAD! I didn't go to my Norwegian grandma's house at Christmas and smell the wonderful smells of Christmas - no, it was boiled whitefish which had been dried and preserved in lye! GAAA!!! They still have lutefisk festivals up where I'm from where a lot of Scandinavians settled. Entire counties smell like lutefisk!
The only Norwegian food I still love is lefse. I may have to make it this year.

I think I can live without the Lutefisk, having had it exactly once and nevermore! Same with pickled herring. I'm also off tuna at the moment, since I was served some that was not quite fresh a few years ago. I've not even been able to eat it as sushi.
My paternal grandmother was of German heritage. On Christmas Eve we would all gather around the baby grand and sing carols in German, or at least those of us who speak German did, which is not me. The tree was decorated with only candles -- a scary proposition, but they were snuffed as soon as the carols were over.
These days my Christmas is a roast chicken and two cats. Boring but easy.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Sunday morning! The WADDB is direly needed this morning. It's still cold, but at least it has stopped raining.
Fogfighter, my Norwegian grandma's lutefisk was similar to what you had. It was the long cooking that made her house smell so bad! It was always served with large amounts of melted butter. Horrid stuff! My dad always had to have pickled herring and oyster soup at Christmas too. Yuck! I think it's why I hate oysters and anything related to this day.
Soot, the lefse is made with potatoes, flour and lard! The best lefse makers could roll out their lefse to nearly transparent... my mom had a lefse griddle that was only allowed to be used for lefse. Most of the Scandanavian church ladies still get together and make huge quantities!
Poor hubby is down for the count. His knees are SO painful with this weather he can barely walk plus he woke up sick yesterday... chills, congestion, slight fever. He just feels awful. Roasted some beef soup bones in the oven yesterday and then simmered them for several hours to make beef broth for a vegetable beef barley soup for him.
Heading out to take care of his chickens...
EDIT: Great. I just did a COVID test for hubby and it was positive. I'm not surprised as he just kept feeling worse and worse.

Good Morning Fogfighter, connie, Draclvr, copper, soot, hagatha and everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready! Brought some Birthday Cupcakes to celebrate Ana's Birthday! Draclvr I hope hubby starts to feel better. Did he get the latest Covid shot? My sister is just getting over Covid too. It is snowing here right now but the temps are warming and everything under foot is icy...very dangerous to walk! I will stay put today as my driveway will be a sheet of ice. Hope you all enjoy your Monday! Gerry

Good morning everyone. The WADDB is marvelous Gerry…chores and projects kept me busy all day yesterday and didn't get the chance to pop in to say hi...we got our flu and covid vacinations too. Draclvr, hope hubby gets to feeling better. Stay safe and warm…have a wonderful day everyone.

Good Monday morning! Gerry, yes we both got the most recent COVID vaccinations back in October. His doctor told him he is one of those who would likely have to be hospitalized and would be in danger of not making it if he hadn't had the vaccines. With them, he gets a milder case. Told him it was the same as when he got shingles after getting the shingles vaccine - he had a much milder case that if he wouldn't have had it. His doctor also told him vaccinated people are much less likely to have long COVID.
He sounds better, but is very weak and dizzy. We have a pulse oximeter here and his blood oxygen levels are staying above 90, so that's something. But he's not been keeping up with fluids and didn't eat anything yesterday. I got 2 soft boiled eggs and a couple cups of coffee with milk and sugar in him this morning. His doctor wants to do a virtual visit with him tomorrow morning. I'm keeping a cup of peppermint tea with honey in front of him.
Called my GI office and cancelled my colonoscopy for tomorrow. I was really hoping to get that over with as depending on what they found, it would be my last one ever!
Heading out to take care of the chickens!

Good Tuesday morning! Hubby is starting to feel a tiny bit better. He had a virtual visit with his NP this morning. I'm able to take most of his vitals, blood O2 etc., and it was all slightly improved. Thank heavens, I'm still testing negative. For those of you who have gotten vaccinated, the nurse practitioner told him he was a walking advertisement for the vaccine as it would have been so, so much worse. She also said that's why I'm testing negative.
So, while I have to run in town and pick up a prescription for him, we are holed up here for the rest of the week.
I'm off to take care of the chickens!

No, we no longer wear masks when we go out, oldbroad. If your brother isn't vaccinated, then he is wise to mask up. I have to go to the vet tomorrow and I will mask up there. I am testing negative, but I don't want to take a chance on ruining someone else's Christmas!

Good morning everyone! A bit late today. Almost dark again. Short days this time of year. 2 Celsius, foggy outdoors and snow on the ground. Emergency use knäckebröd available in the break room. I keep my fingers crossed for Draclvr's hubby and wish you all a calm and peaceful day. Happy Wednesday GameBoomers!

Good Wednesday morning! Was able to get Grandkids Christmas gifts mailed off, so I am done. Hubby and I don't exchange gifts as we both have so much "stuff" we just don't need any more!
He is back up and running already! He is back to taking care of the chickens and walking to the end of the drive to get the mail. His appetite is back and all his vitals are good. But he is taking it slow. I'm sure I would test positive today, but all I have is sniffles. I don't want to waste my remaining COVID tests on me as he has several appointments coming up before his knee replacement on January 13. They would like to see 2 negative tests. I did order more free tests from the government, but they aren't here yet. So glad you got that booster, Gerry! As the nurse practitioner said yesterday, we are walking advertisements for getting it.
I am masking up and taking my ancient barn cat in to the vet for euthanasia this afternoon. Her kidney failure has finally hit the end stage. This old barn cat has got to be at least 23 - 25 years old. But I gave her an extra year by bringing her inside out of the cold last December. Hate to say it, but it's kind of timely as hubby is going to need that shower downstairs where she now lives.

Draclvr, I'm sorry about your kitty, but it's great that your hubby is back up and about.
I'm due for my COVID shot and I really must get around to booking it. I have had my flu shot and so far have avoided the flu that's affected a couple of my friends here.
It's a glorious day. Unfortunately I'm off to the dentist so I won't have time to take advantage of it. Still, it's nice to see the sun and the cats have a nice warm sun patch to relax in.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Glad your husband is doing better Drac. Sorry about the cat. 23 plus years. Nice life. That has to be the oldest cat on the planet or at least the oldest I have ever heard of
Wife and I both came down with covid about a year ago. Wife got it first and only came down with a 101 temp for a couple days then was fine. I got it from her and had the same 101 for a couple days s well. We tested positive for 2 weeks and then got negatives. We believe in the boosters and have not missed one. They saved us from a lot worse I believe
It's never too late!

Good Thursday morning! Had a hard frost last night and the ground was white all the way down to the woods. The WADDB is really hitting the spot.
Probably going to be a lazy do-nothing day as I have the night off from bowling tonight.
Thanks for all the thoughts on the old barn kitty. She definitely had 999 lives!

Good afternoon or what's appropriate everyone. Over here already dark outdoors. Just like the WADDB. +2 Celsius but still snow on the ground. Polishing the upcoming text-based mini game for Linux and XP compatibles. Almost completed. The downloading and making it run might turn out to be a bigger challenge than the actual gameplay.. Happy Thursday GameBoomers

Good Morning everyone! A sunny and chilly Friday before Christmas over here. Not enough snow for making snow-men. The WADDB helps. About the mini game: Managed to compile for Windows and compatibles. Turned out the XP/ReactOS version doesn't run well on XP because of my use of exotic charachters. I have had success on Linux, ReactOS and Windows 10. If any daring GameBoomer want to test and comment I'd be happy about that. Here a link to the my site. It is no cost freeware. Dark Vesta Windows versionThe actual game? Is text-based. Takes place on the dwarf planet Vesta. Is about restoring main power by cracking the not so secret code and enter the correct characters. 12 steps. Could very well have been an entry to the Garden of Puzzling delights. But is a program instead. No wordplay or trickery involved but there are some red herrings. I see several differents paths of solving the problem. I hope you can enjoy the mini game. Very modest system requirements. Very small download size. Runs well in virtual machines. Here the link to the Linux Version in case any one fancy Linux. Dark Vesta Linux version

Good morning connie, Fogfighter, Gerry, Draclvr, hagatha, Beasong, Orion and all who follow. Draclvr, saddened by your news for your ancient barn kitty, this holiday will be bittersweet as her absence leaves a space words cannot fill. Hope the dentist visit was quick and smooth hagatha. Orion, did you get the weather to see the Cold Moon last Sunday the 15th? It was awesome at my end. Do you publish commercial games Fogfighter? Grocery shopping is on my docket today. Wishing you all a warm T.G.I.F. good morning and day!

Good Friday morning! It's cold, dreary and very windy here... perfect day for the WADDB. Yes, Gerry, I got to have a lazy day yesterday.
I need to get the tiny downstair bathroom cleaned up. The old barn kitty lived in there and I haven't had the heart to go in and get rid of the litter box and her food bowls. But we will need it after hubby has his knee surgery, so I need to get it done.
It's not impossible that because this bathroom is so small and he's so big - 6' 6" - that he won't be able to use it. We can't figure out how he will be able to get up off the toilet and have to wonder if he shouldn't go to a rehab facility for the first week or so. We have an appointment with the Physical Therapist and his pre-op team Monday. I'm going to take some pics and see what they think.

Drac, my heart breaks for you with the loss of your kitty, but he had the very best life with you. My husband had both his knees replaced. It's really not as difficult as you think. You walk out of there and I didn't have to help him at all around the house. They teach you steps and walking before you get out and both were outpatient. Have a happy day all!

Yes, but was your husband 80 at the time! Our problem is our house - it's a 100+ year old farmhouse and there is no downstairs bedroom. Yes, we can set up a cot, but the information they have given him says he has to keep the knee extended while trying to get up and down. There is a bathroom downstairs, but it's beyond tiny and there is not enough room for him to do that. There is a very tiny shower which he can barely fit in and has no room for a shower chair which they require. Problem there is he's 6' 6"!
I took pictures of everything and I guess they will let us know our options at the PT appointment Monday.

Everyone I know says hip replacement is a breeze compared to knee replacement. My mom had both hers replaced when she was in her late 70's and they were a breeze.

Good Morning fogfighter, connie, soot, Draclvr, Ana, hagatha and everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready on this cold wintery day! Connie I too find wrapping a chore, but once I get going on it I do enjoy it. Draclvr everyone heals differently and age can be a factor, but with physical therapy it should make a difference...and they may have him in rehab for a week to be sure he is able to get around okay. You should get some answers at the appointment on Monday...Good Luck. Fogfighter I have an iMac desk top computer so I don't think I can test the game. I am impressed that you have the skill to create a game ...I have trouble just figuring how do do things on the computer...especially when things get updated and don't look the same and don't work the same! It is going to be a bitter cold weekend here...I walked 5 very cold miles yesterday with my neighbor. I plan on staying warm by the fire this weekend, play some games, work on a 1,000 piece puzzle, read and just relax...no stress! Enjoy your Day everyone! Gerry

Good day everyone! 2 Celsius, snow on the ground and already dark here. Dark but not too late for WADDB and Bagels. I also still got some wrapping to do. At least most gifts already aquired. Gerry. I'm afraid I will never be able to program for iMac. Linux and Windows is all I can do. My skill level is good enough for simple programming but complex games would be way too much for me. Expect no Fogfighter adventure game AAA titles on Steam. I just do 2D stuff with no bells and whistles and very few moving parts. Still a nice hobby. Happy Saturday GameBoomers

Good morning everyone,
I'm off to Comox this rainy morning. It's the solstice today, isn't it? It's very dark and I'm not looking forward to the drive, but at least it isn't howling wind, too, at least not yet.
There's a huge PetSmart there, so I'll pick up some Christmas goodies for the cats, who are chatting away to each other right now for some reason. I think Dude is trying to get Willow to play. He's taught her to do the blinky love eyes, as she has always been starer.
It was a gorgeous night last night, with clear skies and quite warm. The Steller Sea Lions are back and barking away down on the waterfront. They're pretty loud on a silent night.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.
