Good morning everyone; I'm so sorry for your loss Oldbroad. Draclvr, I feel really bad for that older woman who lost her roof during the storm, she must have been terrified. Just finished making a large pot of spaghetti sauce & it's now simmering on the stove. I got out a crusty bread from the freezer to put on the table. My son is coming over for dinner & he loves spaghetti. Stay safe everyone & have a great day.

Man, oldbroad, that all sounds very odd indeed. Sounds like his partner is a bubble off somewhere. Hope you can get it all figured out.

Good Morning everyone. Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready to start the day! Oldbroad perhaps you should call the Funeral home today and see what you can find out. It must be so stressful to have this happening while you are trying to cope with the loss of your brother...my heart goes out to you. Wishing a peaceful hump day to everyone! Gerry

I hope you can get things sorted very soon, oldbroad. (That all certainly sounds really strange.)
Hopefully, your contact at the funeral home will be able to assist 🤞

Oldbroad, I'm so sorry to hear about all of this. It's bad enough to lose your brother, without all of the mystery and stress.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Wednesday afternoon! As it happens, we just returned from an appointment with a lawyer about our Trust. Since we have a his, hers and ours situation we set up this Trust 24 years ago. But a lot has changed in 24 years, so we wanted to open up the trust to add some of the changes. In addition to assets and their distribution, the Trust also includes health directives and a living will. Since your brother and his partner weren't married, there could definitely be some problems. And if your brother didn't have a will or make other arrangements, the partner could be completely out of the loop with anything financial. You and your brother could be his heirs, not the partner if they didn't plan for this.
Could get sticky.
It's spring. My life is weeds.

Yes, that's a tough situation. We updated our wills as soon as we learned of John's illness, and I just updated mine. It's very difficult when people's intentions aren't clear. It puts a huge burden on the family. My father had an old will, not updated for decades, and my mother literally had to dig through a basement full of boxes of old paper to find it. It took her months.
I hope it gets worked out.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Thursday morning. It's back to being cold again. At least the wind has died down. Yesterday, 50 - 60 mph gusts were recorded. I'm sure it was that or more out here. At one point I saw a chicken tumbling along the ground when a gust caught it!
League bowling tonight.

Good afternoon all! Did a docu-sign today and already am receiving scam/phishing emails. I also emailed the partner yesterday to try to assure him that we are not trying to make any claims on whatever my brother might have had but that he should go through the paperwork to see what's what and discuss it with my other brother at the cemetery. I didn't hear back from him. There will be no actual funeral and I don't think I will even go to the cemetery. Yesterday's storms stayed mostly away from us even though it looked like night time at one point, and then we had snow during the night which covered the grass. Happy first day of Spring .

Good Friday morning! Thanks for the emergency kits this morning, Fogfighter!
We DID have drama yesterday! On Wednesday we had another near record low barometric pressure go through here. All it brought with it for us was extreme wind. It was gusting to over 60 mph and I'm sure it was more than that out here on our hill. Yesterday afternoon we looked outside and noticed all the patio furniture on the pool deck was gone! The only thing we leave out there is the glass top table and the 4 chairs. I have a circular cover than hangs down to the deck to cover everything up. It was all in the pool! Now this is very heavy metal furniture! Dave was able to hook the 4 chairs with a hoe and get them over to the side and lift them out. The table was another story. I suggested he get the tractor, so we hooked the bottom supports of the table to a rope and he raised it up out of the water with the tractor bucket. Of course, the cover was tied to it and full of water, so we had to untie that so it could drain and he could lift it the rest of the way out. Nothing was damaged including the pool – at least as far as we could see. That had to be an epic gust of wind to move all that heavy furniture 10 feet and push it into the pool! Holy moly!
It's spring. My life is weeds.

Good afternoon everyone. The WADDB, emergency kit and bagels have kept me going these past days. Glad nothing was damaged Draclvr...wind gusts and fast moving water can wreak havoc. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers OldBroad to settle your brother's affairs. Have a wonderful afternoon and evening everyone

Wow! That's some wind! Glad everything's okay, including you. I decided to do some actual cooking today, so I'm making a vegetable biryani, tandoori-style chicken, and roasted spicy cauliflower. Now I remember why I stopped cooking. I don't actually enjoy it any more!
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

It's more the cleaning up that I hate. And of course an Indian meal uses a lot of different knives and cutting boards and bowls and pans. Anyway the biryani turned out well, even though I made it with brown rice. Now I have enough for about a week's worth of rice.
The big fat cat that's been plaguing my guys was outside today, rolling around on my patio in the sun. I went out to have a word with it and shoo it away and it responded by rubbing my legs enthusiastically and purring, plopping down onto my feet. It's a real sweetie, the sort of cat that you want to steal. Dude doesn't seem too perturbed by it, but Willow goes nuts when she sees it. Somehow it has decided that my house is part of its orbit. I think it might have been the cat I saw sitting with Dude a while back, so hopefully there won't be any fights. I think it's a female, anyway.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Saturday morning! Finally the winds has died down. My son borrowed my big garden tiller so he could tear up his front yard and reseed it last week. He brought it back last night and said that wind on Wednesday blew all his straw and grass seed to the next county!
Sun it out and supposed to get up into the 60's today, so we are going to put a couple of steaks on the grill tonight. We split a side of beef with my son and picked it up last week. When he tried to pick his up, it was the morning after the tornados and that area in our county had so much destruction, there was no power anywhere. He finally got theirs this week. We get this beef from a small family farmer with 5 little kids! It is so far superior to anything you can get at a grocery store, I hope I never have to go back to it.
Totally agree about the cooking clean-up, hagatha! I would like for everything to magically get cleaned up and put away while I eat!
It's spring. My life is weeds.

Good morning Draclvr, Connie, Fogfighter, Gerry, Hagatha and all who get the chance to pop in for WADDB, knäckebröd, Connie's treats and a chat. Woo hoo Drac, enjoy the warmer temps and grilling. I'll be grilling BBQ ribs this afternoon. Finished Saturday morning house chores this morning and then once I get the ribs cooking I'll finish the rest of Saturday chores this afternoon. I am thinking spring has finally sprung here with our last frost/freeze warning yesterday. Take care everyone and have a wonderful day.

Good morning, everyone.
It's a lovely morning, but apparently we're getting more rain this afternoon and through the weekend. I was hoping to gear up for a walk but obviously that's out. I think I'll spend some time organizing the linen closet, pull out all the towels that Willow shredded and decide what to do with them. Somehow I ended up with far more towels and sheets than I could ever use.
Oldbroad, I do cooking in stages, too, especially with the chopping of onions. It makes the cooking less onerous.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Oldbroad, the beef is taken to a processor where it is cut into steaks, roasts etc. and then frozen. We specify how we want it cut and packaged.
I'm making a hash brown casserole to go with the steaks tonight and I did just that! I chopped my onions ahead of time so I could go fold laundry!
Hagatha, we have several animal rescue facilities which LOVE to accept shredded towels. Don't know if you have a place like that near you.
It's spring. My life is weeds.

Draclvr, that's a great idea. There's a cat rescue here in Nanoose. I should ask them if they want the towels.

Good Sunday morning! We had normal, pleasant thunderstorms last night! Got up at 1:30 to let Bella the Bloodhound inside... she is terrified of thunder. Maybe got an inch of much-needed rain. None of that tornadic weather provided any rain to speak of.
Hubby is feeling good enough to get Bella in to the vet for her annual exam/vaccinations this week. She is so huge she only fits in his big truck! Then I can get her in to the groomer for a much needed bath. All dogs must be UTD on vaccinations before going there. You haven't lived until you've smelled a Bloodhound! Stinky!
It's spring. My life is weeds.

Good morning everyone.
Soot, I wish we could send you some of our rain. It's pretty gloomy and wet here today. My lawn is mostly moss.
Who doesn't love a new puppy or kitten?

Good Morning all! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready! Fogfighter that sounds similar to what happens here when the ground starts to thaw and "sink". I did walk yesterday soot. It was a beautiful sunny day with a chill in the air, but perfect for a 4 mile walk on a hilly country road with a friend. It is going to be a very rainy day today all day so no walk planned. Hope you all enjoy your Monday! Gerry

Good morning everyone.
I'm off to get my thyroid levels tested just to make sure everything is OK. I'm also having my Vitamin D tested because always seem to be low.
The little fat cat was at my house again last night, meowing at the door. I keep shooing it away and it comes back. It doesn't look at fat as it did a week ago, and it's desperate to come in, so again I'm wondering if it's lost. I'm going to post a picture on the local FB page to see if it is missing.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good afternoon everyone. Fogfighter, spring thaw brings back memories of my time in Maine and Montana. It's been raining here Gerry, so no walk yet...maybe later. Enjoying the remaining WADDB, knäckebröd and donuts before tackling the rest of the afternoon. I was thinking the same Draclvr and OldBroad. Have a wonderful day everyone

Good Morning Fogfighter, connie, hagatha, oldbroad, soot, Draclvr, and everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready! It rained all day yesterday. Didn't get to walk. It will be a chilly day in the 30s today...hope to walk this morning. Hagatha it sounds like someone may have left that kitty in your neighborhood...I hope you find out where he or she belongs...maybe the kitty has a "chip" with the information under the skin. Have a Happy Tuesday everyone! Gerry

Good morning everyone! Emergency use knäckebröd is available in the Break room. Just add WADDB. No rain today but cloudy. Soot: over here we call the spring thaw 'tjällossning'. Causes as much problems as it's hard to say. Happy Tuesday GameBoomers. With or without tjällossning

Good Tuesday morning! I tiny bit warmer today and more sun. The peach trees are blooming, so there are hints of spring... Tjallossning... however you pronounce it!
Bug vacuuming upstairs on the agenda. We get literal mountains of Asian Ladybeetles in this old house every winter. I try to keep up with their horrid dead carcasses.
It's spring. My life is weeds.

Good morning everyone,
I'm off to Pilates this morning, rather reluctantly. It's another blah day, with rain and gloom. After a quick shop for cat food at the vet, I'll probably spend the day on my Steam Deck.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good morning Connie, Fogfighter, Gerry, Hagatha, Draclvr and all who follow. Fogfighter, I am thinking the on-line pronunciation is machine-based. Enjoying the cool spring mornings while they last. Off to our monthly vet visit for shots and a check-up. And then projects once back home, but first it's time to enjoy the WADDB, knäckbröd and Danish. Have a great Hump Day everyone 🐪

Grocery store run later this morning. Got a lot of cleaning done yesterday, so I might just might do some gaming this afternoon.

Hi everyone! We have had daffodils blooming for almost a month now. There has been enough sun between the snow and rain to keep them going. I find them quite remarkable to be able to survive this seemingly unscathed. Years ago my next-door neighbor planted hundreds of them; for years now people come down our road just to take pictures of them. Over time many of them popped up on our property too and there are more of them every year now. Such a beautiful sight. I hope everyone here has a good day. I really enjoy reading about what you are all doing.

Good morning everyone,
I've got some pots of Spring flowers and bulbs on my patio and they add a much-needed last of colour.
I have realized that there is not one, but TWO fat cats coming to visit. They are similar in colour and shape, and I would hazard a guess that they are not only siblings, but also share a human. One of them seems inclined to be friendly with me and my guys.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Some of my outdoor Spring bulbs have been blooming also, Marian.
Snowdrops first, but they are all done now, then daffodils, narcissus and hyacinth.
So nice to see the splashes of colour 👍

Good Thursday morning! Sunny with temps edging up towards 80 degrees F today.
This weather has me thinking about the garden this year! Because of hubby's knee surgery and some other issues, we aren't putting in our normal two huge vegetable gardens this year. But I MUST have my tomatoes, so I am starting my tomato seeds this weekend. Instead of my normal 98 plants, I'm just putting in about 36.
League bowling tonight.
It's spring. My life is weeds.

Good Saturday afternoon! I'm late to the break room, but I'll have a cup of WADDDB anyway. We had to fish the heavy patio furniture out of the pool AGAIN this morning! We had wind yesterday and although it wasn't as bad as last week, we had several huge gusts probably above 60 mph and that took it back into the pool! We are leaving it under the grape arbor until all this awful weather this month is over. I am worried about the potential for large hail tomorrow though.
Pretending it's spring and I am starting a few tomato and pepper seeds today. Hubby is not ready to be on his knees in the huge garden yet, but I am going to till up about 25 feet of it to plant just enough tomatoes for us... about 36 of them.
Going to make a potato salad this afternoon and put some burgers on the grill later.
It's spring. My life is weeds.

Connie sending healing prayers for Steve...hope all goes well for him. Fogfighter I hadn't heard about the partial eclipse of the sun yesterday. Soot I did enjoy my very long walk and hope to get one in today too. I'm also enjoying my "cat sitting with Gracie". Draclvr you sure get scary weather! Good Sunday morning! It looks like they have shifted the potential for severe weather to the south of us. We need rain, but no more tornados and hail!
After this weather passes, I really need to get out and start cleaning up all the perennial beds. They all need to be mulched this year, but I'm not going to do it because the chickens just destroy everything.
Also will be getting up a hummingbird feeder today. There is a website where you can follow the migration and they seem to be arriving a little earlier this year. I need to look up something I read last year about repelling the huge European hornets. I had so many problems with them last year.
It's spring. My life is weeds.

Good Sunday morning Mad, Draclvr, Connie, Space Quest Fan, Gerry, OldBroad and all who get the chance to pop in for WADDB, Connie's treats and Fogfighter's knäckbröd. Steve has a bunch of wonderful friends Connie. I've been wrestling with squirrels to keep them out of wife's spring flower pots. So far the score is Squirrels 3 Soot 1 Never give up .. Never surrender! And now the printer is not listening to me or the wife's PC...oh my. OK, time to reboot everything. Thank goodness for WADDB! Have a wonderful day everyone

See, that's the benefit of cats -- no squirrels.
Another gloomy day here, but warming up. I'm planning a walk later on today if the rain holds off.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Monday morning! Back to sweatshirt weather here.
Gerry, I'm still being a total slacker! I will wait until a couple of warmer days to start cleaning up all the perennial beds and fertilizing them. Hubby would normally have a lot of spring onions and radishes planted, but he wasn't able to do it this year because of the knee surgery. I did get my tomato and pepper seeds started yesterday, but it will be mid-may before put those out in the garden.
Connie, that is amazing that you were able to raise such a huge sum for your friend. My little home town did it for my sister's husband when he underwent a stem cell transplant. They had to be away from their home at the hospital in Omaha for 3 months. The money raised let my sister leave work and still pay the mortgage and other bills. Small communities are wonderful.
It's spring. My life is weeds.

Good morning everyone.
Finally, a lovely day. I don't how long it will last with out changeable weather, but I'm planning a walk.
My garden looks pretty good right now. The star Magnolia is in bloom and the shrubs are in leaf, giving a good display of reds and greens. The landscaper got most of the weeds out of my gravel parking area, but there's a significant weed factory in there and if it looks like we're having two good days I might get the vinegar out and give it a spray.
Connie, it's so great that your community did that. When John and I had to be in Vancouver for his spinal surgery we were so fortunate to have a friend who was willing to have me and Willow stay with him while John was in the hospital (for three months). Otherwise I honestly don't know what we would have done. Now your friend doesn't have to worry about those practicalities and can focus on the health issues.

Good Monday afternoon all. I hope you each enjoy your day. I'm hoping not to hear bad news from my friend who lives in Valparaiso, where there was extremely bad weather yesterday. My brother brought me home something from Culver's today. I haven't looked yet to see what it is. Every Monday for the last two months or so he's been bringing home some sort of fast food. That's it.
Heard from my friend. A lot of downed trees in her area, one right across the street and one that landed on her fence. She sent me 3 different pictures of 3 different trees. She lost power for 6 hours. Other than that, all is good, thankfully! I heard that they had 80 mile per hour winds but haven't seen mention of a tornado. She said it all happened within about 3 minutes but there were no tornado sirens or anything.

Good Morning everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready! I have a busy day ahead. My daughter and hubby are coming for a weekend visit...I need to get things ready...my daughter has Celiac disease so I have to get special gluten free food for her...I even have a separate toaster for her to use so there is no cross contamination. I hope the weather is better for everyone today. Enjoy your day! Gerry

Good Tuesday afternoon! Sunny and chilly here and getting ready for more severe storms tomorrow. They will be scattered, so I hope we don't get any of it.
Just got back from a quick grocery run in town. Wish I could go outside and start working, but it's still just too windy and cold! I'm a wuss!

I was just thinking about you and your garden produce, Draclvr A very, very long time ago, my late Husband and I used to grow quite a nice variety of food stuff - but on a much smaller scale than your epic quantities !! We did fruit .... such as .... strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries, rhubarb, eating apples and cooking apples. And a few veg .... like .... potatoes, carrots, onions, spring onions and tomatoes. [A big greenhouse full of tomatoes becaus we both liked them A LOT (and I still do) ] Can't do any serious gardening nowadays, because of health issues, but I have a gardener to keep all my flowers, bushes and shrubs and trees etc in trim 👍

Good morning all. Woke up feeling under the weather. I've been having trouble sleeping over the past couple of months and it's starting to wear me down. On the plus side, being retired means it doesn't matter, because I have few responsibilities. I booked a July trip to Toronto last week. It's my one and only nephew's wedding. I booked myself and my mother into a posh hotel; it's close to the Toronto train station, which means she can get there on her own from Hamilton. She's 93 and still in pretty good shape and insisted on taking the train over my suggestion to take a limo. It'll be fun. We can hang out and eat in nice restaurants for a few days. It'll be nice to get away, even for just a little while.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Wednesday morning! Just sitting here with my 2nd cup of WADDB waiting for the storms to roll in. Epic winds came up in the middle of the night again. Thank goodness, we left that heavy patio furniture OFF the pool deck! There have already been two tornados on the ground about 100 miles west of us. As the storms move east towards us, we hope they lose some of their strength. We could use the rain, but not the hail and tornados!
It's spring. My life is weeds.

Good morning everyone; Wednesday is my favorite day for TV. From 4pm to 10:30, I start with the Amazing Race, followed by the three Chicago's: Med, Fire & PD. Then Survivor. Have a safe day everyone.

"Mad, that sounds lovely, all of the fruits and vegetables that you and your husband grew. How nice that you have a gardener to help you keep things tidy now". waveIt was lovely, Marian, thank you. I also have really happy memories as a very young child of going to stay with my paternal grandparents . [In the early 1940's when I was maybe 2 or 3 years old.] They lived right out in the wilds in a stone "long-house" style property. All on one level and each room leading into the next !! With a "stained glass" windowed porch stuck on the first end. No services except a cold water tap and THAT was right at the end of the house in the laundry room 👀 but there was a huge fireplace range for cooking and heating - and lots of oil lamps everywhere. The "toilet" was a shack, on a path down past the orchard, which housed plank style accomodation over a "hole" And there were twin sheep dogs - who were my pals and who looked after me. But the MOST fantastic part was the FULL orchard, with every soft fruit imaginable and pear, apple and plum trees etc. etc.. Plus ducks and hens. Horses in an adjoining field, cows in the next field along and a huge bull in the field next to that

Mad, that sounds like a fairy book even with all the lack of "facilities!" I have similar vivid memories of when I was only two years old. I know because it was before my sister was born and I was 2 1/2. One is getting out of my crib and going outside one spring morning and my mom was already hanging clothes on the clothesline. She was pregnant with my sister and I remember hearing Meadowlarks. To this day, the song of a Meadowlark is my favorite birdsong!
It's spring. My life is weeds.

Good morning Fogfighter, Connie, Gerry, Draclvr, Mad, OldBroad, Marian, Judith and all who get the chance to pop in. Wow Mad, what a fond memory indeed. I still have a similiar memory of my paternal grandparents house and property in Cornwall-on-Hudson (river) in New York. It was a gigantic mansion that I explored inside and out as a 4 year old from the basement to the attic. I got the chance to revisit their home 40 years later on a business trip only to discover it was actually a very small home...but I still have my memories. I'm with you Gerry and hope everyone's weather improves. Time for WADDB and bagels. Have a wonderful Thursday everyone.

Good Thursday afternoon! I posted this morning, but it seems to have disappeared!
I visited the old farmhouse in Iowa where I grew up and couldn't believe how small it felt. I practically lived in the barn and the hayloft and it was such a small barn compared to what it felt like when I was little!
Tornados and awful weather all around us yesterday, but we just got rain thankfully,
League bowling tonight and then I have to go down to the horse rescue and do the night closing. I will be doing it for the next week every night.
It's spring. My life is weeds.

Happy Thursday.
Did a bit of yard work today -- sprayed the weeds in my gravel parking area with acetic acid, cleaned up some leaves, ordered some new cushions for my deck furniture as the existing ones smell like mold. My pond is definitely in need of a good clean. I need to a new spray bottle this year, so it's time for a trip to Canadian Tire for supplies.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Friday morning! Just sitting here with my WADDB listening to the thunder and smelling Bella the Bloodhound! She is terrified of thunder, so I brought her inside. Who knew hounds smell so bad all the time! She had her annual vaccinations Monday, so now I can get her in to the groomer for a bath.
It was nice to not have to feed any skinny horses last night. Some come in so starved they look like walking skeletons. I had to feed seven horses, but they are all old guys who get chopped up high quality hay that is easier for them to eat. One of them is a absolutely HUGE older thoroughbred! I have to feed him at the back of his stall and there is hardly room for both of us in there! He gets daily turnout and is a real sweetheart.
It's spring. My life is weeds.

Good Saturday morning! Once again, just sitting here listening to the thunder with my WADDB. We are now under flood warnings and I suspect by tonight, the main road into town will be under water as the Bourbeuse River flows right alongside it. My niece was taking her daughter home after a short hospitalization and parts of the interstate were under water, so she had to take the long way home. We are high and dry here on top of our hill. Well, maybe not dry! We haven't checked yet this morning, but suspect we got over 4 inches of rain yesterday. It's really muddy down at the horse rescue. Plus, it's COLD!
Seems like a good day to put a pork roast in the crock pot.
Gerry, I know the feeling when the kids come to visit! Enjoy your time with them!
It's spring. My life is weeds.

Good Sunday morning, everyone. It's pouring rain, which means I can binge 8 hours of LOTR with no guilt at all. (I watched the first one last night) I was going to venture out to the farmer's market but I don't really have to so I'll skip it in favour of the couch. Soot, I hope any tornados pass you by.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Sunday morning! Rain finally stopped, but now the rivers and creeks are raging. A friend who has to cross a low water concrete slab to get to her farm was unable to get home Friday afternoon. A friend who lived on the other side of the creek was able to hike in to the back side of the farm to feed her horses and dogs. They were finally able to get a big tractor over the slab to pick her up about 10 that night to get her home. She was able to cross on foot the next morning to get her Jeep. She said she's staying put until Monday morning!
Now there are freeze warnings out for the next few days. C'mon warm weather!
It's spring. My life is weeds.

Good Monday morning! I'm hoping Gerry is enjoying her visitors!
Last night to do the night closing at the horse rescue tonight. One of the animals I have to feed at 9 pm is Bubbles. Bubbles is a 20 year old Zebu! She was a resident in the Petting Zoo at the St. Louis Zoo for many years, but she is now enjoying her retirement at Longmeadow. We normally don't take exotic animals, but Bubbles is special. The Zebu is a very ancient breed of cattle originating in South Asia. She has a hump on her shoulders and would have long curving horns, but for safety they are kept shorter.
It's spring. My life is weeds.

Good Monday morning one and all. We enjoyed a much needed 4 inches of rain the past 24 hours, currently enjoying a cool 58 degrees and the emergency rations with a bagel this morning. Have a great day everyone

Good morning everyone.
It was a Pilates morning, followed by a trip into town to vote in the Federal Election. I guess it's early voting right now. There was no lineup and I was in and out of the polling station in five minutes. Next up is my taxes.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Tuesday morning! Sun! I see sunshine! Very cold though - near freezing last night. I pulled all the huge double barn doors closed in all six barns last night.
It's election day here... will head down to the country church to vote for an issue in favor of our local community college shortly.
C'mon WARM! I need to get outside and start cleaning up flower beds!
It's spring. My life is weeds.

Good morning.
I'm groggy from lack of sleep this morning so that dark coffee will set me straight. I tend not to sleep well when Dude stays out at night. Of course when I got up at 5:30 he was at the door, came in, ate, and went back out. He really lied on his resume; he's supposed to be a lazy old indoor cat. Hah! Also, he seems not have received the memo that he's been fixed.
We're headed for a few days of rain. My lawn already needs mowing!
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Morning connie, soot, Fogfighter, Draclvr, hagatha, and everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready to start the day! So much violent weather thru out the USA this week. I do hope those in the path of destruction are okay...many of our GB community have been so close to it all. I had a wonderful visit with my daughter and her hubby in spite of the rainy, raw, cold weather. Right now it is only in the 20s! Crazy cold for April with my daffodils in full bloom along with the forsythia! Stay safe everyone and enjoy your day! Gerry

Good Wednesday morning! Cloudy and very chilly here, but the rain and storms seem to have passed for now.
Gerry, we missed you, but so glad you had a great visit with your daughter and SIL!
Hubby headed out for his 3 month post op appointment with his knee surgeon. Guess he will decide if he wants to go ahead and do the left knee soon... this recovery was VERY hard on him, so I'm not sure what he will decide. Guess when you are 80 years old, your body doesn't recover like it did when you were younger! He is getting a nerve block for his lower back on Monday as that is starting to cause trouble too. In the words of Roseanne Rosannadanna, if it's not one thing, it's another!
It's spring. My life is weeds.

Good Morning oldBroad, Fogfighter, connie, soot, Draclvr, SpaceQ, hagatha and everyone. Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready...had my first cup already. Soot I hope you found time to walk yesterday with all those chores to do. Draclvr another surgery so soon for your hubby means a lot of work for you too, especially if his back is bothering him now. Hope you all have a sunny day! Gerry

Good morning everyone. Gerry, unless it's raining cats and dogs I get my walk in every morning before the sun rises. Getting settled in my new job as the "retiree-in-chief," in charge of chores and random projects, full-time, no benefits, no pay, no escape Life is good...especially when I get to start my day with wide awake double dark brew, knäckebröd and bagels. Take care everyone and have a wonderful Thursday ![[Linked Image]](https://www.gameboomers.com/forum/images/graemlins/default_dark/wave2.gif)

Good Thursday morning! Soot, retirement is much busier than when we were working!
Gerry, that's what I told him! If he's going to do the other knee, he'd better do it while I am still able to do it too! He should get great relief after his procedure on Monday.
Checkup with the eye doctor this afternoon. Need to make a stop at the plant nursery and drop some paperwork off at the lawyer's office to get the updates to our Trusts completed. Night off from league bowling tonight.
It's spring. My life is weeds.

Good morning everyone.
Finally got my tax package together and am off to courier it to the accountant. After that, Dude goes in for his annual checkup and shots.
My mother had both her hips done in the same 6 months. She was 80 at the time, and recovered very fast. I myself am experiencing some rather nasty knee issues right now; if I crouch the wrong way my knee immediately starts hurting enough that I limp for a couple of days. Not a good sign.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Morning soot, connie, Draclvr, hagatha, Fogfighter and everyone! Wide Awake Double dark Brew is on and ready to start your day! Soot it sounds like you have a full "retirement"schedule! Isn't it amazing how much there is to do and maintain in retirement! Draclvr keep us posted on hubby and if surgery is in the picture for his other knee. Hagatha hope the knee is feeling better today...have you had issues before? Its raining with a little snow mised in this morning...no sunshine here today. Hope you all have a sunny day! Gerry

Good morning Connie, Gerry, Fogfighter, Space Quest Fan, Hagatha, Draclvr and all that follow. Got a little more rain last night, just a half an inch but that's better than none! Groceries are on my docket today but first I'm going to relax with a cup of WADDB, knäckebröd and a bagel. Have a wonderful day everyone. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.gameboomers.com/forum/images/graemlins/default_dark/wave2.gif)

Good Friday morning! Indeed, it sounds better in German, Fogfighter! Hände hoch, das Wochenende ist da!
Rainy, cloudy and cold here today. Still no work outside... Grrr...
That doesn't sound good for your knee, hagatha. My right one is getting worse, but I'm going to rely on some steroid injections for awhile. So far, I'm still able to clock at least 2 miles most every day without pain. Hubby's doctor said he wants to see more stability in his knee before he does the second one. I had told him a couple of weeks ago he needed to continue his exercises, but he didn't think he needed to as he's moving around and doing some work. But his doctor agreed with me as he's lost some degree of movement. My mom had both her hips done when she was 80 and they were a breeze compared to the knees.
With a dreary day ahead, now what shall I play?
It's spring. My life is weeds.

Good Friday morning, everyone.
Draclvr, my knee hurts like blazes for a few hours, then I just limp for a day, and then it's pain-free two days later. Very strange. It's making my garage cleanup impossible, as I would have to crawl around in my crawl space with boxes. My neighbour across the road says he uses a little cart to move around in his 3 foot crawl space and offered to lend it to me, so maybe I can do that for stowing things down there.
It's a lovely day. I have to go into town this morning but later I'll go for a walk with a neighbour.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Hagatha, mine is the same way. X-rays show both knees to be bone-on-bone with the right one the worst. My favorite tool in the world is my garden kneeler bench. I can sit on it to pull weeds or work, or turn it over and kneel on it. The legs are then used to help me get up. Garden Kneeler

Thanks, Draclvr. I'll see if they have one of those in our local Home Hardware Store. Because I'm doing so much Pilates I have no trouble standing from a crouch or from a seated position, but just having something to kneel on would be good when I'm doing certain kinds of work.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Morning Fogfighter, connie, soot, Draclvr, hagatha and everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark brew is ready! Draclvr my daughter's hubby did the same thing after his knee surgery...stopped the exercises once he could get around...doctor told him the same thing he needed to continue the exercises before doing the other knee. Knee issues seem to be the worst as we age...everything starts wearing out! Have a great day everyone! Gerry

Good Saturday morning! Biscuits and gravy with bacon and eggs served and not it's time to sit down with a cup or two of WADDB.
I'm the same way, hagatha - no problems getting up and down anywhere but from my knees. That's why I love that bench. I still think of when I fell on the ice and had nothing anywhere to help me get up! Had to crawl over to a few pieces of grass to give one foot a little traction, but I got myself up! Must have been quite a sight!
Gerry, all I can say is... MEN! I think of how people in previous generations didn't have the option of getting new knees or hips or cataract surgery. They just went blind or couldn't get around any more.
Temps supposed to edge up to the upper 60's today, so off to the flower beds I am! I really should have everything mulched this year, but there's really no point. The chickens just destroy it and spread it everywhere I don't want it.
It's spring. My life is weeds.

Good morning, everyone.. It's a lovely morning, sunny but cold. Good day for a walk.
Draclvr, the knee in question is one that was severely hurt about 15 years ago, when I slipped on a patch of ice outside my office, landed squarely on my knee, tore my suit open, and struggled until somebody came and helped me up. The bone was exposed, and I had to have many stitches. There's a nasty scar. It was probably inevitable that I would have issues with it later in life.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Sunday morning! Another nice sunny day ahead. I already have a load of laundry going and will head back out to work in the flower beds shortly.
I did a nice flank steak on the grill yesterday. That cut can be tough, so I marinated it all day. It turned out really good and there are leftovers!

Good Sunday afternoon Draclvr, Connie, Fogfighter, Gerry and everyone. Chores and projects completed for the day with a quick grocery run thrown in for tomorrow morning's breakfast. Enjoying sunshine and a balmy 73 degrees this afternoon. Enjoyed Gerry's wide awake double dark brew, Fogfighter's emergency use knäckebröd and then Connie's bagels earlier today. Time to relax for the remainder of the day. We love to grill flank steak Draclvr and marinate the same. Hope you were able to sneak in a walk today Gerry. Wishing you all a fantastic afternoon and evening! ![[Linked Image]](https://www.gameboomers.com/forum/images/graemlins/default_dark/wave2.gif)

It was an absolutely beautiful day. I spent the morning cleaning out things I don't use any more for the Hospice Thrift store, then went for a walk with my neighbour.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.
