One of my kitchen lights has burned out and I'm trying to take it apart but the last piece cannot be unscrewed with any kind of screwdriver.
What it needs is those little L-shaped doodads that are like tiny screwdrivers but they have a five-sided edge. You get them with furniture kits like IKEA. I cannot for the life of remember what they're called and I need to get one.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Is it an Allen Key you need?
Quantity has a quality all of its own

That's it -- an Allen key! And it's six-sided, so a Hex Key.
Cheers!
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

It's infuriating that the light fixture needs one of those, when they could just as easily have used a regular screw.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Fogfighter, I need to remember that word!! We keep a set of all sizes of Allen wrenches around just in case we run into one of those infuriating things! I agree...

So after all that, I finally got the light unscrewed and discovered that there is no bulb to change. It one of those light fuxtures that has a certain number of hours and then it's kaput. I just ordered three new pendant fuxtures since the other two are obviously near the end of their lives. What a pain.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Its amazing what you can build just using an insexnyckel Indeed they can be useful. Sad you got those silly light fixtures Hagatha. They seem pretty stupid to be but apparently not uncommon to encounter them.

Sounds like an LED light fixture ... no bulbs but just little light-emitting diodes (LEDs) as the light source.
They are very bright.

I dearly love my LED light fixture that I put in my kitchen. I hate a dark kitchen and this really keeps it nice and bright. My ceilings are tongue and groove heart pine wood made from a tree called the Southern White Pine. They were timbered to near extinction a century ago. So although my ceilings are 9' tall, they are sort of dark. This light fixture is good for 50,000 hours, so I hope it lasts as long as we are here anyway!

These lights are the main kitchen lights and they're 9 years old, so I'm not surprised. I weighed just buying another one (they sell them at Home Depot) but the glass is fragile and a real pain to clean, so I'm replacing them with something very similar, but without the the headaches.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.
