Where did you download from? Have you tried right clicking the icon and selecting Run as Administrator?

Maybe Jenny or Inland can help you out, but maybe the game doesn't like the quad cores. I did find the system requirements:
Windows XP SP2 or Vista 2.0 GHz single core processor (2.4 GHz dual core recommended) 512 MB RAM (1 GB recommended) 500 MB free hard drive space NVidia 6200+ or ATI 520+ video card
Sounds like a VERY nice computer, BTW...

One of the warnings I recieved was that my system was not supported by the AMD processor and I have a AMD Phenom II 820 Quad Care processor The problem may be what Draclvr suggested -- that the game won't support your quad core processor. If that's the case, you can assign the game to a single core using one of the three techniques on the ***Hyperthreading page***. Yes I know hyperthreading isn't the same as multiple cores, but you assign a game to a single processor in the same way. I have a AMD Phenom II 820 Quad Care processor 6GB DDR3 system memory and 1 Terabyte hard drive. The most important part is the video card. If you only have Intel graphics, or if your graphics is very low end, that may be why the game won't play. Make sure your graphics card meets the requirements for the game.

Paul, To find out what kind of video card you have... From ***this link***Open Display Settings by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, clicking Personalization, and then clicking Display Settings.
This is where you can find out what kind of video card and monitor your computer has. Once you know your video card, you can look for new drivers for it. Even if your video card is good enough to play the game, it won't work if your video drivers aren't compatible.

How to you save. I keep going back to a part I already played. From what I've read, the game uses checkpoints instead of saves. From PolloDiablo's walkthrough: The main menu has game (new game, load game), options, and exit the game. The game saves your progress automatically at checkpoints throughout the game and cannot be saved manually. I encountered some problems after loading a saved game where I ended up between two doors that were both closed so it is recommended to play the entire game in one go (can be done in about two hours). It is not Alt-TAB friendly. Also, you can die in this game, but you will return to the latest checkpoint.

Paul -- I'm playing this game (disk version) with no problems. Well, occasionally a clipping problem, but that's something completely different. My system: Dell Studio XPS 8000 Windows 7 Home Premium Intel Core i5-750 processor 6GB DDR3 SDRAM 1024MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 Soundblaster X-Fi I didn't have to run it as an administrator. I'm sorry you're having problems -- I don't know if the disk version would make a difference or not. If you don't mind waiting until I finish the game, I can send you my disk version just to see if it makes a difference. Pittston -- usually the game lets you know when you're past a checkpoint -- you'll see a yellow circle briefly in the lower left of the screen. Sometimes when you start a new chapter, you have to walk into the environment a ways before you see the checkpoint symbol.

Tks Becky, I will take you up on the offer. Although I have an email in to Richard of Vertigo games asking if I could put the $8.95 I paid for the digital download towards the disk. I probably wont hear from him until sometime Monday. He has been really helpful. I just don't get it. My computer should play the game. I even went in to the ATI website and downloaded upogrades for my video card to no avail. tks again Paul

I'm reading on various forums that the GT 220 is a rebranded 9600GT-not very good for gaming. Is this normal for video cards to be rebranded? Its a bit naughty I think. Actually a 9600GT is better according to ***this list*** -- according to their particular benchmarking software anyway. I wouldn't say the GT 220 was a "rebranded 9600GT" though. According to ***this*** the two cards have different GPUs and many other things different. They may perform similarly in benchmarking tests, but they are not the same card.
