See if you can find out how much discrete graphics memory your video card has. According to this http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce6_techspecs.htmlthe Geforce 6200 is OpenGL compatible (at least with the right drivers), but it may not have 256MB of discrete graphics memory (or more). - Click the Start button in the lower left of your screen, then click Run.
- Type
dxdiag in the box and OK it. - When the dxdiag window pops up, click the Display tab.
- See what it lists on the Display tab for
"Approx. Total Memory:"

Aren't the 6200 Geforce cards very old cards? I'm asking because I have had a Geforce 6600 GT card some years ago, and pondered if I should buy a 6200 card, but got the advice not to. And aren't they pci-cards as well? (pci-slots on the motherboard...)
I'm asking because if EL wan't to upgrade to a better card, say to ATI RADEON 3650, like I have now, it might not be possible...
El, do you have a desktop or laptop computer...?

Total Memory: 512.0MG Current Display Mode: 1024/768 (32 bit) (60Hz) Chip Type: GeForce 6200 Turbo Cache (TM) Turbo Cache means it borrows most of its RAM from the rest of the computer. It may have some discrete video memory, but most of that 512MB you're seeing is borrowed from the system RAM. Sometimes games can use it, sometimes not. A New Beginning doesn't seem to be able to use it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TurbocacheAren't the 6200 Geforce cards very old cards? The Geforce 6 series first came out in 2004. I'm asking because I have had a Geforce 6600 GT card some years ago, and pondered if I should buy a 6200 card, but got the advice not to. It's a low end card, slower than the 6600. Its advantage is that it will work with a low end power supply and it's generally more compatible than Intel graphics. And aren't they pci-cards as well? (pci-slots on the motherboard...) They could be PCI, AGP, PCI-E, or built into the motherboard.
