Hi:
I just installed this game, it then shows the company logo then scene where it says its loading, then a black screen with only the white arrow which can be moved around on the screen, but nothing more.
could you please help me to be able to play this game. Surely would appreciate it.

You don't by any chance have an Intel Graphics Processor do you? It sounds an awful lot like you don't meet the minimum requirements (video wise).

System Requirements

OS: Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7

Processor: 2GHz Single Core / 1,8GHz Dual Core

RAM: 1GB RAM (Vista/7: 1,5GB RAM)

Sounds: Compatible with DirectX9.0c

Graphics: OpenGL 2.0-compatible, min. 256 MB graphics memory (ATI Radeon or Nvidia Geforce recommended)

HD: 3,5 free disk space

DVD drive, mouse

Hi:
Thanks for the reply, I have NVIDIA GeForce 6200 & I have XP.
Is there any "light at the end of the tunnel" for me?

See if you can find out how much discrete graphics memory your video card has.
According to this
http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce6_techspecs.html
the Geforce 6200 is OpenGL compatible (at least with the right drivers), but it may not have 256MB of discrete graphics memory (or more).

  • Click the Start button in the lower left of your screen, then click Run.
  • Type
    dxdiag
in the box and OK it.
  • When the dxdiag window pops up, click the Display tab.
  • See what it lists on the Display tab for
    "Approx. Total Memory:"

OK here is what's listed:

Total Memory: 512.0MG
Current Display Mode: 1024/768 (32 bit) (60Hz)
Chip Type: GeForce 6200Turbo Cache (TM)

Hope this helps!

Have a Happy 4th of July.

I believe what you're seeing is the total (system + discrete) memory. The 6200 TC models were limited to 128MB on-board video memory.

You might try updating you drivers if they're out of date. But, it may just be that the game requires 256MB of discrete graphics memory.

Aren't the 6200 Geforce cards very old cards?
I'm asking because I have had a Geforce 6600 GT card some years ago, and pondered if I should buy a 6200 card, but got the advice not to. And aren't they pci-cards as well? (pci-slots on the motherboard...)

I'm asking because if EL wan't to upgrade to a better card, say to ATI RADEON 3650, like I have now, it might not be possible...

El, do you have a desktop or laptop computer...?

I bought a 6200 in March of 2007. It's still in my old XP computer. The one I have is AGP, which is what that old computer used. The 6200 was one of the few AGP cards available at that time.

Turbo Cache means it borrows most of its RAM from the rest of the computer. It may have some discrete video memory, but most of that 512MB you're seeing is borrowed from the system RAM. Sometimes games can use it, sometimes not. A New Beginning doesn't seem to be able to use it.

The Geforce 6 series first came out in 2004.

It's a low end card, slower than the 6600. Its advantage is that it will work with a low end power supply and it's generally more compatible than Intel graphics.

They could be PCI, AGP, PCI-E, or built into the motherboard.

You could try that site again later.
Maybe it was just busy.

This video shows you what to do if the scan doesn't complete.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7sBfEEEXGA

You can also download drivers directly from here
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

I think your problem may be due to lack of discrete video RAM though, and not drivers.
