MaG, I'm on a dial up connection. That is a great idea but not feasible for me. Thanks anyway.

Ok. Try the trailers-movie here. That might give you an idea.
Although demo would be better bec you manipulate the characters.

Mission -- are you talking about camera movement in Keepsake or pathfinding/getting around?

I remember getting somewhat disoriented in Keepsake also, and having trouble occasionally finding the directional arrows. The locations in Keepsake are larger than in Syberia, and you can access them throughout most of the game, whereas in Syberia you travel to new locations which are more limited in each place.

Syberia is easier to find your way around in than Keepsake is. I hope this helps!

MaG, Thanks again! I will check it out.

Becky, Yes, The pathfinding/getting around is a pain. The directional arrows (finding them) is also another issue. It's not fun. I don't think I like this type of game. I will check out the trailer and based on what you describe about Syberia, I will consider buying them.

Thanks again for letting us know about this Microïds release of $9.99 jewel case editions.

The game areas in Keepsake are vast. My main memory of playing that game is all that running around. I found it exhausting enough just by clicking the mouse to get from A to B. Syberia by comparison is far more compact, there are no camera swings or navigation issues. Syberia is a joy to play. yes

Rushes, Thanks for the info about Syberia. If there are no camera swings or navigation issues, I think Syberia will be fun.

Hi Rushes,

I don't know how many times I've played both Syberia and Syberia II, but I DID find both games a total joy to play, and I've had both games for several years now. Lately, I haven't felt that about many of the later games. I haven't played Keepsake yet, so I guess it's a case of forwarned is forarmed. As for the Syberia games, the graphics are so gorgeous, that even w/o all the fancy stuff so many game developers feel they now have to add, the joy of the visuals was definitely enough to keep me going - far later into the night than I should have been playing. The cut scenes border on the magnificent.

mission, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Syberia tops our Annual Game List every year without fail (link at the top of the page). smile

Hi BT, I'm with you on that. Both Syberias have that magical something about them that most other games find difficult to capture so precisely.

Hi Rushes,

I think that's one of my major beefs w/ what's been coming out lately - not enough of the "magical", and too much of a blurring of the line between Adventure and Action games. The last truly magical game I can remember playing was Barrow Hill, and that one I've played over and over again.

Sadly, even Benoit Sokal seems to have lost it, too. I only hope he finds his way back again. At least Sinking Island, when it FINALLY comes out in North America does have an "adventure" mode. I remain hopeful about the rest of the list.

The thing that annoyed me about Keepsake was all those visions taking me away from point A (which took a lot of walking to get to) to point B just so I could walk back to point A. I needed the map to find my way back.

Why can't they make Keepsake like Nibiru - one click, Martin moves from the camp to the bridge. Another click to the trailer. One more click, he goes to the mine. I move him back and forth easily, all with just one click to the next screen.

I stopped playing Keepsake after the first puzzle, I play games for entertainment and not for torture.

Mission -- game designers make decisions for various reasons that we gamers can only guess at when we see the finished product, but it is their intention to entertain us -- really, it is. lol

I think the designers of Keepsake were trying to give us a sense of scale -- of what it would be like to wander around in that huge, gorgeous environment. Many people loved Keepsake -- it ranked near the top in last June's Twisty List here at GameBoomers.

If you stopped after the first puzzle, you haven't been very far into the game. frown

I thought Keepsake was SOOOO much better than Nibiru. There was hardly any place at all to explore in Nibiru. It felt cramped. You have to realize that not everyone likes the same kind of games. My biggest problem with Keepsake was the weird save system that made it impossible to go back to old saves and replay early parts of the game.

I loved Keepsake, but I'm with Jenny100--the save system was a definite yuk!

I pre-ordered my Syberia I & II from Amazon, I have them already as single packages but they are my all time favorite games and for $9.99 its worth it to have them in this nice collectors package! I have Keepsake on my shelf, have not played it yet, but I see we have mixed reviews. I also have Paradise by Sokal on my shelf and can't wait until I can get my hands on Sinking Island and of course he's developing a new one which sounds awesome. This summer will be my "catch-up-on-all-my-adventure-games". I have a shelf full but I know once I play them all I will then be at the mercy of new releases and of course release dates.

We got two of these in stock today and got quite a surprise.

Syberia is actually Syberia I & II together. In a $9.95 jewel case!! Considering Syberia II has been out of print for over a year, this is a great deal.

Likewise, Dracula is both Last Sanctuary and Resurrection, again for just $9.95.

We should have Still Life tomorrow I believe.
